Why is my damage so low all of a sudden?

I never understood why it’s called spellcap for rogue.

I’m no expert on game mechanics, but to my understanding in case of all melee attacks and hunter ranged as well, there is 5% base hit cap to avoid missing attacks against NPC of the same level, and 8% for bosses which are considered 3 levels above the player.

Then there is exception when you dual-wield which make hit chance divided to “Special Attacks” and “Normal Attacks” where “Special” are things found in “Spellbook and Abilities” that you place on the action bar, and “Normal” (which require much higher hit rating) is Auto Attack, and in case of rogue, the chance to successfully apply poison from attack once it actually proc.

It should be called poisoncap if anything.

Which leads me toward side question: Why they have removed the proc chance info from tooltip on Wound Poison and never included one on Instant Poison?

Every other poison still include the info except those two.

In Classic Era and BC expansion Wound Poison had 30% proc chance described in tooltip, then in WotLK they increased the chance to 50% but removed this info from tooltip, and Instant Poison introduced in WotLK never included info that it’s actually 20% chance neither back during WotLK or now in CATA.

That is the way it used to work /works on Classic, correct.

Dual wield hitcap was always a very wonky thing… The actual hitcap was IIRC 28%, which I think was only actually supposed to be appllied to the offhand while the mainhand still had 8% but it never actually worked that way and was always 28% for both… but that actually didn´t matter in most cases because all dual wield skills somehow counted as spells, and therefore needed 17%, but your autoattacks could still miss… Something along those lines, just totally borked to the point where even the Swedish Chef would just turn around and run away screaming Smöörebröd!!! :rofl:

edit And I do faintly recall all DW specs being absolute killing machines for like the first week or so of WoD-prepatch, because with hit and expertise now removed from the game they were now suddenly connecting with every single blow :wink:
