Why is my feral damage so low?

Hey, I play as a feral and my damage is approximately 3000-40000 but I get 40000 only with incarnation, without it the max I get is around 20000. My ilvl is 389 and I don’t get why it’s so low, I have a build from WowHead. What’s wrong with my damage?

Edit: my usual damage is 3000-8000.

well 389 ilvl is pretty low.
I am assuming you mean 40k dps with incarn?
if so and you are keeping your bleeds up, doing shred into bite and that’s it, then it us Purley gear.

our single target is incredible bad in a M + spec load out, not much you can do. I have levelled my rogue now as in 10.1 it doesn’t look promising for feral.

I am 418 and play the spec well. without incarn my single target sits around 35k, typically I would finish a M+ boss on tyrannical around 55k with my DH friend doing 75k

Just level your gear up and you will see big number changes, get the correct gear and good stat weights.

I agree that it’s most likely a gear issue. Get better gear and you’ll see your numbers climb.

AOE is what matters in M+ even on tyrannical weeks. As long as the group has enough overall ST damage to kill ST bosses in a reasonable time, keys are timed or depleted on trash.

Yeah same here. I have about the same gear as you but ilvl 416 and if you do a perfect single target rotation without Incarn, you sit around that level of DPS. It’s absolutely ridiculous for such ilvl. They just can’t get it right. Finally our AoE is very decent in Dragonflight but now our single target is beyond dogcrap. Try explaining that to your pug group :pensive: Hopefully 10.1 will change that a bit but it’s still months away.

@Dragozin: some basic Feral pointers:

  • Are you familiar with Feral’s unique DoT snapshotting mechanic? If you don’t get the snapshotting right you’ll lose a considerable amount of damage.
  • At how much energy do you Bite? You should aim for no less than 40 or 50 energy on your Bites. The more energy you have (up to 50), the more damage your Bites do.
  • How much crit do you have? At 40% crit, things become very interesting during Incarnation because how Shred and crits work. With 40% crit you can basically Shred, Bite, Shred, Bite etc. which is very bursty. Naturally whilst maintaining Rake and Rip. Personally I don’t maintain Trash during Incarn except for maybe when I get a clearcasting proc but even than, it’s debatable for how much use it really has during Incarn.

I have issues getting good dps. If I spec ST I get 10k dps higher, than if I spec MT. If I spec ST I get massively reduced MT damage.
