I was absent from wow for quite some time, but I guess the game still lacks logic after all those years… again and again…
Why the hell has somebody to farm " Drake’s Awakened Crest" and “Wyrm’s Awakened Crest” to upgrade PVP gear? Why has the game to become so boring for those who only want to play PVP?
What are your thoughts on this? Isn’t wow supposed to be fun for everybody? Why after soooo many expansions, the same mistake is redone over and over again?
PvP gear scales to the highest ilvl in BGs and Arenas, no need to farm crests if you just want to do these.

It’s been like this for a few seasons. You have to do pve to do pvp. Why? because Blizzard want it this way. Makes no sense to force ppl but I guess not too many were too unhappy with it., so it’s still here. The system is likely not gonna change any time soon, it seems.
You’re not missing out on anything pvp wise btw… Premade groups and sync’ed queues have dominated the whole pvp scene this season, while Blizzard looks away.
The quality of random pvp in bgs is pretty bad atm unless you have groups, friends, or a guild running bgs. Many seasoned pvp players left and many completely clueless players, have joined pug bgs.
My personal point of view is wait until TWW or focus more on getting some groups, friends or guild going, this season and start playing Blitz.
Another stupid think is the fact that if you are under lvl 70 there is no reason to play PvP because you do not received Mark of Honor and the exp. point you receive to level your charac. are almost useless. I understand that many players prefer PvE i.o. PvP, I sometimes like to level up by PvE only but I think PvP should be more rewarding until you reach max level.
The only reason is if you want to jump into PVE, you can upgrade with the Crests, if not, pvp gear max ilvl in PVP anyway, so whats the issue exactly? :D Its actually easier for PVP players to jump into shuffle etc,after honor just buy conquest and you are set,you don t have to upgrade anything.
In Wpvp it`s the same, the gear jumps to max.
Crests are just for those who wan t to play PVE using PVP gear.
