Because it does not say that anywhere.
Once you reach a high enough renown, you can switch covenants freely, you’ll be able to use transmogs freely, and your alts will be able to skip the covenant campaign. Renown isn’t going anywhere.
I’ve seen and heard a lot of presumptions about how the system is going to work. In time it will become clear to all how it all works.
Yeah, I’m kind of scared of what they might implement tbh.
if that’s how they decide to make it then alting will stay dead throughout SL. they should relabel the expansion to Casuallands. they’re the only ones who enjoy getting progression by grinding trivial content
Iirc 9.1 already launched with an extra catchup for renown below 40, with multiple levels at once at first then merely increased drop rates as you catchup
My guess is that we’ll get another buff to the catchup and call it a day.
You can already catchup in a matter of days, the grind is already barely relevant & you’ll get it while gearing your character anyway.
Funnily enough, this is the expansion where most of my friend list is playing a lot of alts. Go figure.
You pretty much cap renown while gearing up, not sure wtf you’re on about. Maybe you should try it before complaining?
To be fair alts getting renown isn’t hard or even slow, just mega boring.
Changed cov on my main, did layer 5 torg till 30. Which was under 5 mins a run so about 3 hours. Then did all the new cov campaign which took about 3 hours. Then did a daily, world boss, weekly world tour. Ended up 57 renown the 2nd day spamming some m+ which I’d normally do which is enough to unlock all the soul binds.
I did hate every second of it, especially after doing the kyrian campaign 6 times now. 9.1.5 should be better on alts for sure.
There is no RNG in getting renown. Exactly two weekly quests. There is some RNG in the catch-up system and that is fine.
I had no problem getting a lot of renown on my alts and I’m not sure why do you even want renown so fast and so bad on alts.

Because its a system flamed since beta. The whole covenant system. So the more or faster you can skip that is part of that system the better.
Maybe, I don’t know.
What i do know is: When i brought a warrior alt in, she renowned up much slower (during 9.0) and renown rewards was only 1 per quest (not the 2 it is currently in 9.1.)
