Hey,
I played quite some during Legion and recently I wanted to get back into the game, but when I found out that you dont get anything with the standard edition. I kinda got sad…
I remember getting Legion and got character boost and 30 days gametime. for almost the same price? (50,-)
From what I found after researching BFA had also a boost + gametime for digital standard. for 50euros as well!
Translating the prices its like boost is 60euros and gametime is 12-ish. and the expansion ?? thats insane value. you pay 50 for the price of “100”(but lets calm down, not a lot is worth a 100 euros)
But now with shadowlands, its 40 just to own the thing. then buy gametime and boost a class myself or continue the class I was already playing…
anyway,…The pandemic is eating into my income so I was wondering why they chose to price the expansion the way they did.
They give you the base at a lower cost in comparison to last expansions, while giving the thing they used to give you at a much higher cost, with a moderate difference between the packages.
That way, you’ll be interested in upgrading and will pay more
People complained about having boosts piling up that they don’t want to use, Blizzard brought out three different versions this time to suit people’s needs. The prices also varied more this time round.
The digital deluxe for Battle for Azeroth was £52.99. They split the digital goodies this time and added in some game time for a third option. I don’t remember the prices of the non digital deluxe. It’s too long ago.
I don’t find it hard to find something to use a boost on myself and this time I went for the Epic Edition, I wanted it all.
honestly i would prob even buy into that normally, its just timed very odd when half the world is without a job and needs to stay at home…or …t-timed amazing??BECAUSE half the world is at home? and the fact that they’re reconnecting the strongest threads from wc3/wotlk for the classic warcraft fanboys like me…bro what has Uther done??
still not buying tho/.
“People complained about having boosts piling up that they don’t want to use,…”
But some will see a 15~20$ difference between what they bought and a mount they could get and they’ll just pay the extra.
Then see that with another 15~20$, they not only get a boost, but a month of playtime. so they buy the expensive one due to the allure of small differences between the packages.
It’s a typical selling technique which is often used in a lot of shops around the world.
One Tshirt for 10$. two for 15$. a lot of people will go for the 15$ option, even if they only need one.
They analyze the situation and based on numbers, they estimate the sells and determine the optimal value for the packages and how to implement the rewards for it.
It’s a bit scummy if you consider their goals, but this is the world we live in. You can’t expect blizzard not to do the same thing others are doing.
Not sure. This was the first expac since around Wrath that I didn’t pre-order, there simply was no incentive to pre-order as I always buy standard edition. I think I could have made an allied race DK earlier or something, meh…
