Why is SoD dying an observation

I doubt that devs will read this but if they do please for the love of god adress this issue properly or the games gonna die.

Heres a link to the numbers of active players scrubbed from warcraftlogs, i know blizzard most likely has better numbers but regardless this picture tells a story.

P1 - I’ll call it the hope phase, people are excited cause its classic with a multitude of viable specs that you can play (something the community has been asking for a long long time), the raids just there to gear up nothing special, pvp is somewhat ok except hunters being broken and warriors absolutely useless.

P2 - Honeymoons over phase, alot of class balance issues not being addressed, rise of even more broken builds, classic og well performing classes falling flat to meme rune builds, shamans by far the best choice for tanks declassing your proper tanking class which has a designated talent tree for tanking, absolute turning of the game upside down, more balance issues specially in pvp with the introduction of STV

P3 - Disaster phase, none of the issues from previous phases have been adressed, problems highlited in previous phases are just being deepened, alot of classes feel left behind while a few spec simply outperfom the rest, you end up having situations where everyone is rolling FOTM, raid size increase, as much as i dont see this as much of a problem. The way blizzard handled this conditioning players to 10 man raids for 2 phases to abrubtly increase the size was done badly.
ST - Its simply a boring raid, with very lackluster rewards. The late item revamp hasnt changed this, because people have already made their minds and are waiting for p4 to launch and hopefully it will adress the problems from previous phases.

TL;DR
Blizzard, you need to get your act together or you can end this project. Unless P4 brings around proper balancing, with a multitude of nerfs to faceroll specs and introduces actual stick and carrot raid loot that makes people want to go through a challenge a feel that dopamine rush of getting a piece of gear to then go smash the opposing faction in a fun balanced pvp setting, not one where you get globaled by shamans/hunters or die from dots before they even expire from a shadowpriest.

The current game arc has nothing to offer, its mundane, unbalanced, not rewarding, extreamly grindy, where you need to dedicate consecutive evenings to rank up only to perhaps fall short before the reset and have all those hours go to waste because no one wants to pvp.

I really hope the info about P4 will be a banger cause if it doesnt fix the current issues, SoD will die in its infancy before even reaching real endgame.

Just give up. Accept the fact you have been milked by yet another of their really poor products, just long enough for the majority to move over to Cata. They’ll launch p4 when Cata is dying. And just about when you all abandon P4, the new retail expansion is there to feed your addiction.

Stop giving this company money.

People are dropping off - yes. However that graph, taken from Ironforge.pro is missleading.

The graph is based on raiding character logs, and its no suprise that more characters (not players) were raiding a 10 man, 3 day, raid at level 25 when getting there took 2 days.

A player could without effort raid with 5 characters, all acounted for in the graph. When level goes to 50, the same player is less likely to level and raid with these same 5 characters- perhaps dropping down to 2 of them, which would seem like a 60% drop off on the same graph.

40-50 lvling in SoD was MUCH FASTER then 25-40 on start of p2 and even faster then 1-25 (when it was p1), because of incursions. You can now easely lvl 40-50 in 5-7 hours, when lvling on p1 took avg 15 hours if not buying boosts, and 25-40 on p2 it was 20+ hours.

Yeah, but no matter how much faster it was, it builds on the assumption that you have a character on that level to continue to level on and wish to invest in to.
Getting to 25 and clearing a random BRD was easier than later on getting to 40 and getting in to Gnomeregan, and at last 50 and Sunken, both seen to gear, runes and meta-gatekeeping.

Like said, its obvious people have fallen off, but I would claim the numbers showed in early SoD were inflated by the number of Alts raiding and how accessable BFD was.

is there like a summary to this?

There’s a TLDR in the OP.
