Why is tapped target still a thing?

wouldn’t it be better if there is no tap distinction?
i mean system is more for trolling then it would be helpful for anyone.

think everyone would hate it when they pull a group mob only to see some of the mobs have grey hp bars so you knowing they wont count for loot or objective or when you melee and being sniped by a range and still have to put the effort to kill it since its chasing you.

i think would be better and more relaxing if tapped target wouldn’t a thing anymore and sure there some people just attack the mobs i am fighting once to receive easy loot but at least i get something from it to

Mobs only become gray to you, if they are first hit by a player from the opposite faction.
So, I think this is there to encourage world pvp.

but wouldn’t that make sense in warmode then? not in warmode off

and specially since lot of area’s are really crowded with both factions and i could go pvp but im terrible at it so neither are a option for me sadly

A lot of quest bosses & rares, especially in the Maw never goes grey, So i think the grey is only for certain mobs

There is also a capacity on regular mobs, I think it’s five players can tag then it’s greyed out for everyone else. Obviously there are exceptions with things like rares/bosses etc.

That would make sense. But then, maybe there are technical limitations.
World of Warcraft wasn’t designed with warmode to begin with, so when they implemented it, maybe they were limited by the existent code in a such way that they were unable to implement this grey tagging for warmode only without making a mess about everything that involve fighting mobs in the open world.

I did not know about that. And that’s not really surprising. If there’s already 5 players on the same regular mob, why is it not dead already ? :stuck_out_tongue:

Totally agree with you. This system just seems outdated now considering most of our quests are all from the same mobs. We’re all aiming for the same goal and the same quests, so why have it?
Just grey them out if it’s a faction based thing

but with the rares it prove the system can be done without the tapping as it seems just be a relic from the olden days and actually makes no sense anymore to have

I never understood why tapping was a thing even back int he day.
To me, its less of a competition and more of a inconvenience for both factions.

Indeed, when this is in effect I also wonder why they put me in Alliance dominated shards. Why not just put me together with all Horde, I’m not in warmode (or a PvP server when that was still a thing) so there is no point in me seeing the other faction when I’m not fighting them or unable to help each other out (I still help em out when I see a player struggling though).

There’s no technically limitation when it comes to adding a variable and a very very ssimple if statement to non WM mode.

I would like this this too.

agree with the removal of tap it also invite to help each other much more rather then being frustrated the tap is being stolen

You don’t know how it is implemented.

That doesnt matter what coding language it is. Every single coding language has a if statement variant. And you should know these are professionial coders.

Or at least, one would hope.

And now, I am convinced you are not competent in the matter.
