Why is that when I'm 'appearing offline' that people can still see I'm online when

Are you a CIA agent, you are hiding from whom?

Yes, I know where they’re hiding the Aliens

That’s because you can still receive messages when you are offline on the Launcher. Basically, if you are really offline and someone sends you messages on the Battle.net Launcher, you will receive them when you get online. It’s not a bad design it’s an overlapping feature. If you are appearing offline when people are sending you messages, obviously you will receive them instantly, since you are here.

People dont care about the fact you’re online as much as you care about them caring about the fact that you’re online.

Delete old irl friends you no longer talk to from friends if that bothers you

Because it’s a Battle.net feature. It wasn’t meant for individual characters. When you choose to appear offline on battle.net, you are appearing offline to your battle.net contacts. Your in-game characters aren’t. It cannot be an issue if it was not intended in the first place.

These aren’t the reason I use the feature but thanks

This is why I moved all my alts from the guild I was in and removed ‘friends’ from my alt accounts, and the few who have ‘seen me online’ I have also told “stop stalking and mind own business”

With 4-5 months people have got the hint and left me alone.

The fact I may want to do a dungeon every now and then, or attend mythic raids does not mean i care to always have the social interactions outside of those times. People are boring.

Although lately i exercise turning off bnet altogether. But yeah well it used to be when I logged into game and wanted to do something on my own I got instantly whispers to do this, that and third and some people wanted to ask how am I. But since I hate small talk and I did not want to offend them, I just went offline mode instead.

You’d be surprised how many people care if someone is online or not. I get literally spammed to death. Like today, i wanted to do some of my yesterdays 2k gold emisaries. I am supposed to appear offline, but soon as I get game world a blue text appears from raidleader “please do scrolls as I intend to put priest outside… maybe, and I need scrolls.” and I am like "yeah I want to do nothing more now with my game time than scrolls for you… "

Or when we go to progress raid and guy jumps - "oooh Az vantus runes, now… " - you know how long it takes to make inks ? 15 to 20 minutes. That time I cannot do anything in game, and must go afk.

I wish they’d send me in-game mail, or leave offline notes to bnet or something, not spam me soon as I log in. Argh.
