Why the content seems better when they pass.
Why can’t i just Enjoy it more as it is in a moment.
Only when it passes i say yeah that was good raid. Wtf is this?
Do you mean when you clear content - that’s the only time you’re happy?
And when you don’t clear anything, you are unhappy?
I mean, that’s… a human emotion.
It becomes more enjoyable if you do it “for laughs” with friends tho, that’s easier to - be happy in the moment - with, because you enjoy being with your friends, making jokes, etc.
The moment to moment gameplay in WoW is not very engaging or enjoyable in itself.
Most of the enjoyment and satisfaction in WoW comes from the sense of completing something, earning a reward, achieving a goal, or something like that.
It’s hard to zoom in on any specific gameplay experience in WoW and point to it as an example of excellent gameplay. Most often, as with most MMORPGs, the gameplay design relies on simple actions and long time investments with a reward at the end of a progression process for one’s efforts.
Most grinds in WoW are absolutely miserable, but they feel super satisfying when you complete them and get the reward you desired. I think that’s pretty standard for MMORPGs.
i think, because they have become things you do like a machine and get through. So you only feel good when you complete them, both because you finished them and got rid of the boredom. There is nothing original, leveling is nothing, the endgame is just boring stuff you have to do and nothing memorable like before, there is no interaction like before, there is no value in your effort. On the contrary, there are things you do not want to see and many more, there is no need to go into detail. glhf
I mean Df xpack raids and dungeons for example.I like em more now then when i was playing em.But i should have Enjoy em more in present. Not now that they are past.
Hmm, yeah. Might be some quick nostalgia kind of thing kicking in?
Yeah maybe…How do re wire my brain to be more satisfied with present gameplay tho
For me that used to be the case, i enjoyed getting the insane title, i used to enjoy grinding out reps, doing something repetetive yet engaging but these days almost every reward is a recolour of something easier, you’re not really allowed to grind to your hearts content because almost everything has a time gated factor, outside of gallywix mounts the most unique mount from this patch takes 5 months of non stop raiding to get, they release time limited events that are also timegated, last reset they released goblins but also timegated the currency so you couldn’t just farm them until completion, you were locked to 60 shards a day. Everything they release these days feels like its made to force to to keep logging in each day in order to be rewarded. It feels like each month they release another time limited event with rewards that either become unobtainable or insanely grindy the next time they come around in order to attempt to keep you subscribed for the longest possible time or youll miss out.
I’ve been playing other MMO’S, noone else does it to the same extent wow does, GW2 has a legendary collection that takes some time to do but at the end you’re rewarded with a fully customizable item thats saved to your account so can be used on all your characters, it looks amazing, enhances the look of your abilities and if yoy don’t like it you can tmog it for free. if the same grind was in wow it’d only be available for 2 weeks and just give you a shirt thats one of 9 recolours of that same item but the cool one would be a trading post exclusive.
Most people take an extended break away from the game and return a few seasons later or an expansion later.
My longest break away from WoW was just before the end of BFA and all the way through Shadowlands and came back when Dragonflight was released.
And @Heist, please for the love of all things sweet & holy … paragraphs!!
In my defence I’m on my phone and it didnt look like i wrote alot.
Ahhh I was thinking “did they use a phone?” explains everything
I added a space and it still looks the same, ree.
Ill check on pc tomorrow and probably laugh.
Hahah xD
It helps with breaking it up
I also remember grinding the Insane in the Membrane FoS back in the day. I think WoW was a different game back then in the sense that there wasn’t so much to do that was very pressing, so you actually had time to log in and sit back and just spend hours and hours on these grinds whilst listening to music or watching tv on a second monitor, and being completely unbothered by everything.
The rewards also felt impactful because the game didn’t have too much stuff in it, so if you got something special, then it really was special. There weren’t that many titles in the game, so getting that title was pretty…insane!
These days I think the game has gotten a lot more busy. There’s always a lot of things to do just for the sake of keeping up with all the various things to progress and partake in.
Rewards are constantly flowing and those that used to feel special because there weren’t too many of them, they are now being spit out on a conveyor belt.
As a consequence it doesn’t really create an environment where you want to invest a lot of time into a heavy grind because there’s too much going on in the game to devote all that time to a single thing. And the reward you get from it also doesn’t feel very special anymore, and the lasting value of it tends to drown in the constant flow of new rewards that the game just keeps spitting out.
It is different today. That which used to be the satisfying end of the gameplay element is less satisfying now. Speaking for myself, I just play the game on a surface level now. I don’t really get the same enjoyment or satisfaction out of these grinds that I used to, so I don’t bother with them anymore.
But I still think this is the source of WoW’s enjoyment and satisfaction. The gameplay itself tends to be very simplistic and downright boring. MMORPGs simply are. They’re not deep in terms of the gameplay action. It’s the dopamine of getting a reward from a long grind that makes it satisfying to play.
WoW still has this going for it, but maybe not as much as it used to.
One word “nostalgia”
It’s possible because you are now running them at your own pace, and you have the freedom to explore them, instead of running through them as fast as possible due to time constrains.
