It may be a weird convo to start but… Does anyone feel me?
The other portals in the capital’s portal hub, are all set to send you to the major cities of the various continents… But not Pandaria for some reason. It’d make way more sense imho to have the portal send you to Vale of Eternal Blossoms… It’s central on the map, and it obviously should send you to the original Pandaria timeline (you can just talk to the timewarden thing… Zoridormi or w/e if you want to do the BFA stuff).
Anyways, I just felt it was an odd choice (and a bit annoying…) to send us to the Jade Forest, seeing as it’s not a capital/bigger city/not really central on the map/low level zone etc etc.
Even if you ignore the time stuff that causes obvious problems, that zone is “locked” behind a questline to open the gates. So for new characters it would be a poor choice of zone for the portal.
Jade forest makes the most sense imo as its the starting zone
Yeah, that’s a good point - Jade Forest always was the starting zone but… Tbh unlocking the zone through a quest line could be scrapped nowadays imo. They’ve done so before.
Explain to me then why you don’t think we should have portals instead to… Hellfire Peninsula at the portal? Or to Borean Tundra/Howling Fjord? … None of the other portals go to the starting zones
The other portals just go to straight forward cities with no unlocks or timeline shenanigans attached.
If they did the portals probably couldnt go there.
And starting zones just make the most sense to me if the capital area ruled out.
Like the portal to silithis from bfa is inactive if youve got the zone set to the wrong time period.
That would be a pita with pandaria
The cities in Pandaria is split between horde and alliance.
There is a significant distance between them in a high level zone as well.
So it’s not like dalaran or shattrath.
Yeah but pandaria doesnt really have a capital city.
The closest area it has to being one is in 2 different time lines (the only area with a portal to one of these doesnt work if set to the wrong timeline) and is locked behind a quest chain.
The zone itself doesnt follow the same rules as the others.
So the starting zone makes sense as a second place. As the logical capital city zone is very impractical for a portal
Because there should have been a boat to the Jade Forest and a portal to the Veil of Eternal Blossoms. But seeing as Blizzard didn’t want to make way for new boats/zeppelins then we have the portal go there.
And yes I know in the past there was a portal to the vale, but imagine a new player/character does the Pandaria intro at level 10 and accidentally hearths/clicks the portal back to SW/OG before they get the flight point. If the portal was to the veil, how are they supposed to get back to the Jade Forest? Run around half the continent in zones where everything kills them?
Portal used to be to the Vale. I don’t know if that’s when it changed, but I suspect it no longer is the case due to BfA’s whole NCSoft invasion thing. Rather than have people deal with Zidormi and the potential mess with people switching in and out of Chromie Time, just dropping people in Jade Forest instead is probably less of a headache.
Northrend has boats/zeppelins, and there are NPCs in the portal rooms that can send you to Hellfire Peninsula. In the end I stand by what I’ve said earlier, if the Jade Forest had another method of transportation, Vale of Eternal Blossoms would be fine, but as it is right now it has to be the Jade Forest.
…and the WoD portal goes to the very heart of Draenor - if hearts are supposed to be floating outside the body itself… The renowned important central hub of… That isle on the very east end of the content called Ashran, primarily used as a PvP zone with vendors and trainers.
