So we’re looking at 7 weeks in a row that the Great Vault gives absolute vendor trash to every single character. Every slot is filled with items I already have at 278ilvl or items that are completely useless for my class.
Why is there no good failsafe to get an upgrade after grinding out so many M+ dungeons and raid bosses? The concern is how characters are falling behind because the only upgrades for M+ players are weekly upgrades from the vault. But we can go months without a single item to use or transform with the catalyst.
Did you need a weapon? No, you can pick from 2 rings and a trinket nobody will ever use.
Did you need boots? No, you can have 2 awful trinkets and a neck.
Gearing has come to a point where I’ve been sat on the same 272 items for months now because there is no failsafe for this or any way for a M+ player to get any gear upgrades while this weekly vendor trash generator is running.

Yes because the hours and hours of grinding every week for months should be met with zero upgrades.
When patch comes u will restart that grind again.

Great Vault is not the means of your main gearing source. It is “a bonus” loot you can’t have any claim on an item with “desired” secondary stats, BiS, weapon, or specific trinket.
Great Vault and upgradeable item drops from M+ is a far better system than ‘‘warforged’’, ‘‘titanforged’’ non-sense.
You already have 272 version of the item you are looking for in Great Vault and you should realize +6 ilvl won’t make a major increase in your performance.
Please just stop being ‘‘gear-centric’’, don’t ask for more gear. The gearing system is very good right now by comparing old expansions.

272 for months? We just got the valor cap removed. I guess you mean ‘1 week’. The season goes in it’s 12’th week. If you are 272 ‘for months’ i suppose you were really lucky with stuff really early and fast in the season.
I do agree the vault can be a pain. Better than previous expansions, but it is still not there.

The Vault is RNG. RNG can be a cruel mistress at times.
You’re not exactly struggling for ilvl at 275 though.

because it’s pure RNG without any way of deterministically let you target gear, so more often than not you will end up disappointed but not enough to keep you away from doing enough content to unlock new slots for your next week’s vault
if i were in charge i would throw it in the garbage bin and bring back the badge/point vendors

For ‘big 3’ players anyway.
If you’re a non big 3 player it’s not good (not as bad as it has been in the past, but still: Compared with Legion and BfA it’s bad).

It does seem to favour rings and necklaces more often than not.
Maybe if Blizz added a tweak, so that it cannot duplicate a particular slot 2 times in a row that would be a big help, so you get a neck piece one week therefore you know it wont happen again the following week

That’s true. In fact, there is no difference between
1.) 3 slot weekly vault
2.) 3 different (normal-warforged-titanforged) item drops.
On the first, you have +1 weekly chest item with a very low chance to loot BiS
On the second, you have 3 items to choose from weekly chest
Because it is hard to establish on a system level what exactly you consider an upgrade over what you already have
Maybe its time to try a different game. One you find more rewarding.

I will also add. It’s better than not having a great vault.
Rng being random is bullshiv… How is it on my warrior I only get the same items from my vault. Wrists and hands.
But every key i get for m+ is Tazavesh streets or gambit. As if literally no other dungeons exists.
I do only get DOS and Gambit. Do the other and get the opposite time after time after time!
People need to understand that there’s no good iteration of the great vault. It needs to be removed, and gear should come from doing the content.
