I’ve always wondered why Blizzard never implemented a reward or an achievement for gold makers. I mean, some people made hundreds of millions, and I think they deserve at least some recognition. Maybe a title “the banker”, or a nice mount, even a pet (a wow token with little wings), I don’t know. Whatever would be fine, just something to actually reward people for being good at gold making.
And I’m saying that because more and more people enjoy gold-making, so I think ti’s important to create rewards for all different types of activities in the game.
I instantly thought about the payload platform loaded with cold and treasures from OW Junkertown map https://i.ytimg.com/vi/mcPDd16_9dI/maxresdefault.jpg
The problem with those kind of achievements is that people could move their gold from one player to another and everyone will earn the achievement. For example, if I have 1 million and a friend has almost none I could trade my 1 million and then trade it to me back, and we 2 will have 1 million gold achievement, yet there was only 1 million, not 2 million. It does not sound right.
Of course that requires at least doing that only with people who you trust, but that would be another reason to not have these achievements, this could be used to deceive people of their gold.
That is why the only way to have some achievements for people who have too much money is making them showing their fortune like real people who have too much money do, having things for sale that are very expensive so these people could buy it to show their status.
So, there could not be a 5 million gold achievement but there could be a 5 million gold mount, just like in real life we don’t see in the face of people the money they have in the bank but if they have millions we can know that because they have expensive cars, clothes, jewels, etc.
“Loot 5m gold from mobs/players/treasures/emissary chests/whatever else” achievement would meet your criteria. Loot, as in not get it from selling some trash item for someone else’s 5m, or getting said 5m in trade, etc.
