As the title says, there are way too many pieces with versa…
You really need to look close and search for gear with Haste/crit etc.
Does anybody know why ? O_o

There’s too much versatility; remove it; “it just raises your offense and defense bruh”. Wat; just have intellect/agility/strength for purposes like that; a single passive spell can cover it by scaling with main stat.
Mastery is similarly bad; it’s practically a passive spell that doesn’t need a stat; just give crit and haste and main stat because those are clearly distinct and the rest are unneeded.
Yeah I don’t like it as well.
When I initially killed a few bosses in CN (i don’t do raid but I wanted to give it a try), my reward for spending 3.5 hours was a vers - mastery item. I literally whispered the RL and left the guild and haven’t raid since then.
Maybe if certain specs weren’t that depended on certain stats it would be okay but playing with 10% haste with my Warlock is a miserable experience.
I’m not sure if it’s changed or not but in a lot of TW my haste has dropped unreasonably due to scaling and it’s awful to play then.
I have 3 different should let pieces in my pocket. All with versatility, i hate it, if i change it i lose to much crit and haste…
In the dungeons is exactly one shoulder piece without versatility.
That’s awful
I don’t think that’s a versatility only issue. There’s always a few pieces where you can’t get optimal stats for the spec you play.
No idea if it’s intentional or not, but it might be to encourage people to play the other aspects of the game (raid + dungeons).
For me the pieces with optimal stats I can’t get from dungeons, often drop in the raid instead.
Legion M+ timewalking actually helped a lot with this, since it made way more different armor pieces available.
Don’t get me wrong, i maybe should put it like this: versatility is a dumb stat.
It’s not about optimal stats for me.
It’s about:
Crit: often connected to mechanic of spec’s (fury crit, ret pala expurgation , frost dk etc) and it’s nice to see crits
Haste: lower GCD and feels way better to play, also mechanical important
Mastery : very depended on spec, but also has more interesting impact
Versatility: flat DMG buff / damage reduction
Versatility just feels bad (talking only PvE of course)
I havd several 252 choice’s over the week ALL OF THEM WITH VERSATILITY
I didn’t take any because i don’t want to lose my other stats that are way more fun to play
The reason for Versatility’s existence is historical. Back then during WoW’s earlier days there used to be many many different stats. When those were removed, these stats were had to be converted to something else that gives power. So they had to come up with a stat that is useful everyone in the same way, so they had to come up with something super generic.
It depends on the class a lot.
To me none of the stats really feel interesting to be honest.
Haste feels like a requirement for fluid gameplay.
Mastery is often just a flat damage increase just like vers is or just outright useless.
Crit is apart from some interactions just a flat damage increase aswell. It’s probably the most interesting of the stats we currently have though.
I’m honestly not a fan of the current stats at all. They have almost depth.
Stats to me only feel “right” if I’m playing with classes that have a way to straight up increase your stats.
For example, my fury warrior gets 15% haste, 20% crit, 400 mastery and 5% + x% strength through passive effects and cooldowns. Normally, due to how few stats you can get - or how you have to itemize it rather, especially in PvP - it feels awful to play without those stat gains. I don’t crit often enough and the class doesn’t feel fluid and responsive enough without having Enrage and Reck up, and instead, I’m forced to build a lot of Vers just so I have enough survivability to get my damage off, which, in turn makes me do less damage because I don’t get to stack enough Mastery (unless I want to play full glass cannon, which Fury already is).
I would love if Reforging made a return.
TFW blizzard says versa is the new PvP stat and then puts it on 80% of PvE pieces.
They made mastery so boring too that versa and mastery is virtually the same stat for a lot of specs.
Fixed it for ya
Why is there way too much gear with mastery?
You really need to look close and search for gear with Haste/versa etc.
Does anybody know why ? O_o
And the answer is because there always seems to be ‘too much’ gear with stats that are useless for your particular class/spec.
In pvp at least, haste/vers is available in almost every slot. Would be nice if reforging still existed
wow just trying to force you to pvp, been like it for years. Do pvp or we will force you to by sneaking pvp stat in to your pve gear.
there should be a pvp stat that is only available from doing pvp and is greyed out when doing pve and its ilvl is removed when calculating pve ilvl.
Get it through your heads blizz, a lot of people do not want to do pvp.
Versatility is BiS for some pve specs (afaik at least), like tanks. Its hardly just a pvp stat, its just a bit of a lazy approach.
Aha yup, meanwhile I haven’t been lucky once yet with Vers…mastery I love it…MUST BE NICE to get the gear you want
I don’t mind Versatility because it have a practical niche in synergy with the other secondary stats.
Crit: chance for double damage
Haste: Faster abilities and shorter GCD
Mastery: Upscales certain core spec spells and abilities
Vers: Increases overall damage done and reduces damage taken.
Vers might not scale damage done as well as the synergy between the three other stats, but makes non-tank specs tankier and able to do more damage by being able to handle more and tougher mobs at once.
For a lot of healers versatility is very important in M+.
Which is of absolutely no interest whatsoever to people who don’t do rated pvp.
That’s okay, but i mean just look at all the plate pieces in the dungeons + raid, there is a staggering amount of versatility pieces.
