Why make an MMO in such a way that the worst thing in it is other people?

It’s different, I agree. Many of the social aspects moved from the game itself to other community platforms, like Discord. Back in vanilla WoW, we had a Ventrilo server with limited user slots, but most of the chatting and socializing happened in the game.

I could see some players having a harder time making WoW friends that way. It’s not impossible, though. I befriended new people I met in M+ runs, and I met you and others here on the forum! Still, though, I feel that in vanilla WoW making friends was more organic, as a byproduct of just playing the game. WoW life was also slower.

Do define your definition of casuals.

Fail to see how mine ruined the game in any way.

The worst thing in the world is other people no matter where you are.

Go to the store? You got some guy blocking off the whole aisle while on the phone with his wife, with no regard for anyone else in the store.

Travel by car? You’ll have people cutting you off in a manner that can cause crashes if you don’t yield to them.

Get around town on foot? You’ll get cyclists that think where you walk is where their bike is supposed to be even though they’re supposed to be on the road with the cars as its illegal for them to ride their bike where you’re walking, it’s not a shared lane with pedestrians and cylists.
