Why most zones have lvl30 cap?

I’m about to complete third zone, I’m lvl35 and I one-shot enemies.

  1. Why do most zones have lvl30 cap?
  2. Is there a way to enable some sort of challenging mode for all zones or something, so whole map would be tougher? Or any kind of level match of me and map?

That’s the standard cap for old content. You need to visit chromie and select an expansion to level in, that way all mobs scale to your level.

You want Chromie time.
Go to Orgrimmar, and find Chromie next to the Embassy, then select an expansion you want to level in, and mobs will be your level up to level 68 I believe.

They will scale to 70 if you use Chromie Time.

When the first level squish happened in the Shadowlands pre-patch, zones were “scaled” like this:

  • Every Vanilla zone scaled from 10 to 30
  • Every TBC zone scaled from 10 to 30
  • Every WotLK zone scaled from 10 to 30
  • Every Cataclysm zone scaled from 10 to 35
  • Every MoP zone scaled from 10 to 35
  • Every WoD zone scaled from 10 to 40
  • Every Legion zone scaled from 10 to 45
  • Every BFA zone scaled from 10 to 50
  • Every Shadowlands zone scaled from 10 to 60

Then we got

  • Every DF zone scaled from 10 to 70
  • Every TWW zone scaled from 10 to 80

Which means that we’ll also get:

  • Every Midnight zone scaled from 10 to 90
  • Every TLT zone scaled from 10 to 100

-=EDIT=-
When we get the next level squish after TLT, I hope we will get every pre-TLT zone scaling from 1 to 50

Judging by his 700 achievements points
That’s probably his first character?
Is chromie time available on brand new accounts ?

Chromie time should be available on every account normally.
I think the only requirement is that you need to have reached level 60 on one character on your account.

yes
that’s what i meant
so if that’s his first character, there is a possibility chromie time might not be available for him.

@OP
if that’s the case you better rush through the Dragon Isles/dungeons to level 60
at that point Chromie time should be available to you.

Note that at level 70(?) the game pulls you out of chromie time forcing you to go level in war within content.
the trick is to freeze your experience in between 60-70 (there’s an NPC in orgrimmar that lets you freeze experience) if your goal is to quest through old content.

The Game just forces you into Exile’s Reach, after that you can use Chromie time.
No requirements.

You can lock your XP and finish all the expansion’s content at the max scaled level, if you want to. If you don’t need to level to 80 fast as your priority, it is quite actually enjoyable and I did it with a few chars already.

Should be available for second char, need to do the levelling route via DF first time.

This support file makes no mention of that though but I wasn’t aware it had changed. Or it might just not include a new player perspective but that seems an oversight.

Thank you all, especially for links!
I’m gonna use Chromie’s timeline to deal with this issue.

They should change it so it always scales to your level. If you want to level to max doing only old expansions, you should be able to. Chromie time is not intuitive at all.

To keep those trial peasants from the best and greatest content.

Edit: Oh, wait, you are talking about CAP, my bad. :skull:
