It is a Hp Laptop and ı bought this 1 year ago.
But ı don't understand for me it is a meh computer but it can't running a game created 14 years ago. Im making shadows low, ım closing SSAO, making liquid detail fair and also making view distance and enviroment detail 1. Everything else is full. But still even with this quality im playing between 45-60 fps and per 2 minute my laptop starts making awful sounds and when this sounds starts my fps is compelety going down to a 25-35. I don't undersntad.
Is my laptop is garbage or is not enough to run wow with a full graphic quality
or is there something wrong whit it. Can somebody help me
and btw when i make everything like everything full it is giving me about 25-30 fps. And the time the sounds that ı am talking about starts it is dowing to a 10-15fps. I feel like ı am about to go crazy. I was playing skyrim with a full and remastered mode with this laptop but when it comes to wow it is like that. I don't understand
The main problem with gaming laptops is they overheat really quickly when put under any kind of strain, and WoW is a very cpu intensive game. I spent years using various gaming laptops and no matter how much money I spent or what I did, they all overheated and died.
I have a !@#$tier laptop (5 years old) and this is how I do it.
Make sure your game runs on high performance (check task manager and open nvidia control panel to tick that option).
ingame:
Resolution scale 100% or less.
Antialiasing OFF.
I personally keep view distance at 4 with environment/ground clutter (if I go higher I start to notice FPS drops).
Shadows LOW.
Liquid FAIR (this is the biggest culprit imho, having it on GOOD on a low/mid end machine is a disaster).
SSAO and Depth Effects are disabled for me. So is outline mode.
Weird noises and overheating is no joke, make sure you clean laptop from dust occasionally (check vents). I do it once per week. This also affect ur FPS and STUTTERS. DUST IS BAD.

You may want to go into the BIOS & disable the on-board GPU (Intel HD one) it should be overridden by the 970, but you can't take it as concrete.
One thing that may be more critical as a bottle-neck is whether your Hard Drive is a Solid State Drive... if not, swap that out (could be pricey, GB-for-GB), but solid state hardware works faster than old-skool platters & heads.

Simple, it's not the same game made 14 years ago.
I was getting very sluggish while loading and I reinstalled and now it's back to normal.
The patcher since Legion is atrocious. If you have an unmetered and decent internet it might be worth trying.
It’s because you can’t fullscreen anymore.
I solved the overheating by getting a cooling pad and setting the CPU to run at 99% but I still have to have low graphics (3) rather than (7) which it has the capability to run.
Also make sure your system is using your graphics card not your intel card.

if you aren't playing wow on tablet yet you are doing it wrong!
seriously though gaming laptop is the problem you should of went desktop.
reminds of the time i bought alienware pc .. because it had a tiny case... the thing died in 2 years because it overheated itself to death.. £1800 wasted.. don't trust alienware is the moral of the story and small isn't good. in terms of hardware giggity.

Buy SSD? ;p

This really. Why on earth they decided to remove that I still do not understand. I hope they will bring fullscreen back.
I can really help u , there is a tab selection called Technical support , here u won't get any help .
That's the answer that people give who buy the best kit they can, because they can; know the limitations of the game you want to play & but your kit accordingly... because you WILL get to a stage where your hardware will create a performance pit that will never get filled by a game like WoW. WoW is an old game - code-wise - and the best hardware is wasted on it; it will never be good enough to justify spending £400 or more on a GPU, for example, that newer games have as a Recommended requirement.10/11/2018 16:27Posted by Moontear10/11/2018 16:13Posted by NimrhysIt’s because you can’t fullscreen anymore.

EDIT/OT relevant:
A SSD will probably be all you need.

Man.. i think the new Iphone is more powerful than your laptop..
Have you tried the technical forum.. No offence but this is general so expect general comment. Could be one one a gzillion things.
By the way, no comfort, but when my game launches it tells me that my system is incompatible. I then get another error on the launcher. I just ignore it all and get in game. My kit is 64-bit but with an outdated NVIDIA and Win7. But the computer is just fine for me.
So I just bulldoze through the warnings, ignore the updates and simply play the game. Works just fine.
Windows10 is a pile of do-do. The trick you will find is that your computer is bloated with loads of junk working in the background. Problem is all these programs or applications like to 'phone home' when you are online. If you had a little ethernet hub like I have under this table you would be able to see the frantic goings on as various things use your internet connectivity. So maybe try and see if you can disable some of it while you're playing. Just saying. You need all the GPU you can muster. Forget the CPU. And check your settings. Try lowest and slowly grade up.
Also choose to close the BattleNet launcher on playing the game. It needs to exit completely to stop it hogging your resources.
PS No comfort but my system works just fine. But its Win7 and I don't have any of them crappy apps loading all that nonsense in the task bar. I also tend to play in a tiny window as I like to watch YouTube while flying about all the time. As you do.

Can I please ask what model of laptop it is you're using...?
It's fair to deduce that when you bought it and when the machine was released could be quite a while apart, technology-wise.

This tells me your laptop is overheating.
Fans will spin at max and create a lot of noise trying to cool down a laptop, meanwhile the CPU(Processor) will downclock itself aka reduce the speed it's running at trying to limit how hot it gets.
If worst comes to worst your PC might also shut itself off at some point or it might cause crashes or visual artifacts on your screen if it's the GPU overheating.
Next time you buy a PC to play games on, consider a desktop PC unless the portability of the laptop is a dealbreaker for you when it isn't there in a desktop.
Desktop while not being as mobile has other big advantages though, they rarely downclock due to heat, at least if they're not 10 years old and have never been cleaned and they usually offer much better chances at upgrading a bit at a timer later by adding more RAM, upgrading the GPU or adding more SSD's/HDD's.
That would almost certainly require you to have one to make an infantile comment like that...11/11/2018 12:30Posted by RaidenMan.. i think the new Iphone is more powerful than your laptop..
TL; DR of the whole thread is that WoW is a game that even back when it was launched was intended to be played on a desktop PC; if having "an ugly box in the corner of a room" is something you do not like or want, then realistically WoW was never a game you were the target audience for.

This and more stuff to consider when it comes to laptop.. like shared v dedicated vram.. btw in my vast experience with PCs as a certified electronician and a computer science engineer having had a passion for the PC world for 30 years and having worked in it for at least 15 I can honestly tell all of you:
When it comes to laptops HP is the absolute worst you can get.. the overheating problem is expecially relevant to them and their hardware configurations don't make sense at all, they probably just use what they need to get rid of... If I were to suggest a brand in this time and age i'd say Lenovo.. they're putting out a broad range of solid laptop for all purposes and wallet..
Can you game on laptop?
Technically sort of/yeah
Can I do it with spending below 2.5k?
Nope. Not properly
Will it ever be as convenient as with desktop gaming?
Hell not for the foreseeable future
Also there's videos that show how to build around 300$ desktop machines that can outperform any laptop below ~2.5k if that's an option for you
It should be able to run fine on a laptop, but is not optimal. It will overheat and limit the lifespan of the laptop.
Win10 is a disaster, for a number of reasons. Try getting win7, 64 bit.
The problem here is also why i think B should carry wow to console. It would benefit everyone and does not need to influence wow itself or the way you play.
DX12 is a disaster. B has advised to not use it and will take care of the problems in 8.1 (so you can await that)
Also a reason why it would be better to port to their own dedicated console.
Wow runs on one core (or at least that is what i read on tech forum); so new processors do not give the benefit you would expect.
Advantage here is that your processor will not overheat that quick bc of this.
Wow is said to run mostly on cpu, not so much gpu. May be true, bc they never rewrote the entire code, which means it is not optimized for new hardware and does not make full/good use of video.
Also a reason to do it over and port it to console.
Network wise, traffic needed for this is very low. However, connections made (by win10) may interfere, so stop as many services as you can. (wont work well for win10 home, which is one of the reasons why...)
New computer here and i have similar problems, as do many ppl. A lot of that is in game now (bc of sharding/xrealm, servers that communicate with eachother about your actions, greenlighting you much later > lag, even though your time to server is good). Multiple threads here about it.
Some seems to be sinkholes, that are ?? Like old dala already was and it was never fixed. Dont think they will fix any of these now. Also dont know why that is.
Your best/fastest options to gain some at this point is limit win services. Adjust proper vid settings in wow. Get an ssd > gives about a 10 fold increase in load times from disk and does affect framerate positively aswell. There can be big differences in r/w speeds in same price/size category > so take the one with the same size, same price, with the best r/w performance.

The frame-rate dropping and your laptop making "awful sounds" (I assume that's due to the fans operating at 100%) after 2 minutes is a symptom of overheating.
How old is your laptop?
If brand new: I'd try to return it to HP. Laptops are generally bad for gaming, but if it overheats so badly that you can't use it properly, then HP shouldn't be selling that piece of junk.
If old and if it ran WoW without issues: it could be that a fan isn't working properly anymore. My graphics card recently had a busted fan, which made a lot of noise and didn't cool as well, and that caused overheating and frame-rate drops after a few minutes.

Don't forget dust/dirt in the fans.
It's even worse for laptops because the intake and where it blows air out is generally a lot smaller, meaning dust clogs it up much more easily.
Bad news is that cleaning dust out of the fans of a laptop can be quite hard if you're not comfortable taking your laptop apart.
Which if you're comfortable with doing I would not recommend trying, worst case scenario is you kill your laptop+most likely voiding any kinda warrenty.
