Why nerf the fun out of shadowstrike?!

Shadowstrike
While Stealthed, you strike through the shadows and appear behind your target up to 25 yds away, dealing 25% additional damage.
Awards 2 combo point.

Range changed from 25 yd range to Melee Range

Seriously? Why? The single fun thing about the ability gutted without any reason? What are you doing Blizzard? This has never been a problem, why now? I am seriously losing faith… I mean, how do you ‘strike through the shadows’ in melee range? I loved this as added mobility in open world.

i think you don’t understand what changed there

am i being dumb? please enlighten me!

kinda, calm down

They’ve just fixed bug+tooltip mistake… Shadowstrike still teleport you when you are in stealth as tooltip says… the Bug they fixed: you was able to shadowstrike on 25yd range even in Shadowdance (but you didn’t teleport)

ok then. please excuse my melodrama

Shadowstrike is a combo point generating ability, it deserved to be neutered. Its un-healthy game play doing the majority of somebody’s health with that isn’t right and deserved the treatment it got.

You can start again

It still teleports from stealth. Tested it just now.

It’s an opener though. Historically they have been strong

But ok, say it gets nerfed down to do the damage of backstab and generate 2 combo points.
Would you then enjoy rupture ticking for 10% of your hp and eviscerate critting for 60% of it?

Cause that lost damage has to go somewhere, and it’s not going to go to the autoattacks, no sir.

Well, we do have SnD again, so a bigger portion of your damage will, in fact, be autoattacks.

yeah it’s kinda silly.
right now autoattacks contribute more to ST damage than rupture does. they are like 10% of the damage, and this with all azerite traits and essences. it will likely go up to 15-20% of it.

Why is that silly? It used to be way more back in BC and LK and it was fine then

Yes it used to be way more but I don’t think that’s good gameplay. Passive damage just for being in range does not really do anything for me…
I’m not saying we should mash buttons like crazy, but neither should doing nothing end up as a bigger part of your damage than your skills

I dont really see any issue. Autoattacks have a more narrow cone in which they work than abilities do. It is the groundwork for perfection.

I think being able to keep it going for as much and as long as possible can and should very much so be part of your ability as a player.

Its a small thing but not therefore any less important

I disagree, i think that doing the proper rotation at the right time and keeping your buffs/debuffs up should take precedence over being in autoattack range
I mean really, if you can’t manage to be properly positioned in order to autoattack it’s just best to play a ranged class

Exactly, and this amplifies that gesture

Autoattacks, for melees, are the fillers from casters (the spam fireball from mage, for example). If you remove that melees are disadvantaged compared to casters because they have less damage outside of resource consuming abilities (like energy/CP, rage, maelstrom, etc). Unless you also gut caster fillers. But I don’t think it would be fun having Fireball hit for 0.1% of your own health per cast.
