Why new expansion on midnight?

I’ve never had a crash before tbh. And the Legion launch was so smooth, WoD had some issues with bottle necks but on the whole went pretty well for me.

I think I did do a few quests around launch when MoP was released. Every other expansion I’ve been around when it launched, Wotlk and Cata only come to think about it, I just logged at some stage the day it launched but not midnight.

No hurry anyway, a few hours won’t matter much anyway, get some rest in.

wod launch was the worst launch to date the game was unplayable most of us were stuck in our garrison running on the spot mop wasn’t too bad a bit of lag here and there legion and bfa were both smooth so high hopesfor shadowlands launch

Try a different form of caffeine maybe? Like coffee or tablets.

I’ll be sleeping during launch, fart a bit. Wake up the next day and play.

Always an all-nighter. It has the perks that on day 2, you can spam dungeons with people that know what they’re doing. It goes downhill fast once the plebbies get max level.

Is this a youngen thing? I cannot imagine staying up past 11. My days of staying up were in my early teens at the weekend or holidays. What madman adult would try to stay up past 11?!

Just play the during the day later on. You won’t fall behind because of few hours. And some places might be less crowded.

I’ll just join after the initial rush. This launch will probably be even worse than the WoD one. At least WoD separated the factions into their own starting zone (after the intro scenario), here we will all be put into the same zone and do exactly the same quests. It’s going to be a total nightmar, especially at the bottlenecks.

I sit and wait eagerly for 11pm (in UK), I launch BNeT, let any new data that needs to be downloaded settle on my SSD, and then go to bed and wait until morning, been thru far to many launches to expect anything smooth (Total War Rome II i’m looking at you!!!)

Haha ikr. It’s just a game. Am I competitive in games I play ? Yes.
Will I ever call in sick or take a day off to play a game on release ?

Hell no XD It’s literally the saddest thing once can do. Besides given the fact that it’s getting released in Q4 you will have more than enough time to catch up before the next big patch.

I don’t even expect i will try SL day one, sure, temptation will be huge, but as with classic, it’s beneficial to let this tsunami of players go to another parts of the game and then i will start enjoying it.

EU drew the short stick. Anyway, can you not wait till morning to play? That’s what I do. The biggest rush is already over and it ain’t a race (server firsts are a thing of the past). Besides, what do you gain by getting 60 before someone else? The content is going to be time-gated anyway so the first raid tier won’t unlock for 3 months or so.

Ain’t Nathria releasing two weeks after launch?

Well, you might be right. I think I missed the memo. I based that off of BfA where it took months for Uldir to come out.

The way I see it, the game will still be there in the morning when you wake up, so not making it there the second the doors open isn’t that big of a deal.
I’ll just play the next day when the starting areas aren’t as cramped as a COVID sceptic protesters rally

That reference is like a decade old. I cant remember any problems on releaseday since the times of Cataclysm

I would work from home on Tuesday anyway, so it doesn’t matter for me. Now I just don’t have to pretend that I’m actually working. Much less stressful.

Expansion releases always assault the server infrastructure and there are very few MMOs who make it through launch windows smoothly.

Releasing it at midnight means less players are active and the playercount can slowly ramp up rather than all blasting in at the same time and crashing the servers.

Um WoD?? It was horrific

That’s why the levelling paths of legion and BFA exist

Their now removing that path for a set path again. Which was causing huge problems all the way up? Lmao.

It’s not old. They fixed the problem and now relaunching what caused the problem.

Also both draenor and silvermoon crashed on BFA launch for over 6 hours. They’re now making all servers as large as these 2 by connections.

This means this time if it happens all servers will now drop for over 6 hours
