Why no community council on EU forums?

NA are kings, while EU are queens in the forums!!!

They should remove regional forums and merge it into a single entity divided up by language barriers for simplicity’s sake.

Yes it’s a US game. But, it’s one with a global market and community. For instance, I never understood why the English speaking forums are segregated in the first place. More to the point is there even a continued need for it? What benefit does this artificial barrier bring to us as the player base other than hinder communication.

This thread is testament to how something indented to provide the community with avenue for feedback ends up being divisive. Be it perceived favouritism or otherwise, you just end up alienating communities from the other regions who end up feeling like 2nd class citizens.

Sure you can create and level up a character on a US realm to post on the forums there. But, it really shouldn’t be necessary in first place.

I read the rest of what you wrote and I am not saying you are wrong. You are right for most of what you wrote. I am rathe curious.

So, why does it matter? Well, in my opinion, I rather think - isn’t it better when you take a feedback from people from different cultures and locations rather than just one?

I completely understand that WoW is U.S product and they can do whatever they want with it, just like any other company.

What do you mean by same forum? If you mean U.S forums only, yeah that is how they ignore the rest of playerbase. Because they didn’t even consider the other forums.

Problem is that we know it’s U.S only.

But it’s not US only. Unless they were going to create a new forum on a completely new site, that had no ties to any particular country, it was always going to have to be in one of the currently established forum locations. So yes, it’s based in the US, and yes, it’s much easier for people to access if they are already users of the US forums/US account holders, it’s not exclusively limited to them. We know there are EU WoW players on those Community forums.

As the rest of us can’t interact with those forums regardless of where we are, then that part of it makes no difference to us.

What DOES make a difference is the fact that on the EU realms there is no access to it. If I list the Blue posts made recently, I get none of those from the Community forums, but in the US forums I do.

Scrolling through the Blizzard Tracker posts on the EU forums, the only mention of the Community Council was to announce they were going to do it, back on 1st November. There has been no similar post stating it has happened. I only found out about it due to an external site.

At the VERY LEAST there should have been an announcement on the EU forums that it had happened, it had been set up, and a link provided to it (of course, I might just have missed it, but I’ve not been able to find one in any of the “official” posts).

As I said before, the best thing they could have done was to either mirror the forum or even just sling a link up from our Community forums, so that instead of just General Discussion and Events and Fan Creations, there was also a link to the Community Council too. It’s not really that hard at all to simply add a link to a forum - if they’re struggling, I can show them how … WoW Community Council. There you go … Blizzard you can have that one on me. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, considering his request is just to see the Council forum here I don’t think it would be the logistical nightmare you’re describing.

hes not the only one… but most of us have better things to do than waste it on a PR stunt.

Ofc they listen EU too and every player in EU matters them too. It just not feel like that always but they watch

You still don’t seem to understand that it is not just US players giving feedback. People could apply from anywhere. They are just taking part in one forum location. Because it makes zero sense for a council not to be using one forum.

The Council members are from everywhere. There are at least two EU regulars on there. Prosident and Kretias.

Everyone could apply, regardless of what region or language you play in.

Why are people so dumb

Its the internet, location is irrelevent,
Its cached around the world so exists everywhere.

The title of US forum is just a name nothing more.
Its exactly that same as if they created a standalone forum called the international forum.

If EU people can’t grasp that simple concept then perhaps they would struggle with more complex discussion.

What are you saying - that anyone can apply from anywhere in the world as long as it’s U.S forums?

That’s just plain stupid. You know why?

It takes what? 30 mins to level to 10? Its not that hard for those that got elected from outside US to do.

That’s not a problem. Problem is that you have to maintain two accounts of which for one you are probably going to pay and play and for other one you are not going to play, while U.S people have privilege to just pay for 1 account.

It’s not like I couldn’t pay for two accounts but I think it’s insulting that we have to do 2 accounts and they have to do 1. Its kind of like - you have to pay extra for chance to get into Council.

I am completely fine paying for my current account and having a chance to get into a Council. But oh look, that doesn’t exist.

It doesn’t hurt to have a link in the EU forums to the community council forum, wherever it is. It’s just a link.

It’s funny though because the best WoW players are from either China or Europe lol.

You can post on US forum with a free starter account, you dont have to have 2 subs.

Valid, but I also think that considering how toxic the WOW community is on the forums, discord and reddit, why would anyone in their perfect mind actually read people’s comments?

We all know that most the “feedback” they get is edgelord hate and rarely informative feedback from our side. Just look at General Discussion and check how many posts there are bait or general unjustified silly hate.

They can simply rely on youtubers / streamers to know what’s happening because from the fanbase itself, 98% of the feedback they get is skippable spam.

So yes, you’re totally right. We don’t matter. We mattered at some point, but then we started mixing our feedback with our own opinions and lost the ability to actually be listened to. This will happen more and more. Because the more people have the ability to be vocal the more silly people will be able to be vocal too and suffocate the good feedback out there.

All Warcraft players were invited to apply to join the Community Council, all you had to do was complete a form.

All Warcraft players who were selected for the Community Council were given instructions on what they need to do to post on the US forums where the Community Council is based. Every invited member regardless of where they play can take part in the forum.

Incidentally anyone who has an EU sub can actually post on the US forums if they really want to. You just have to attach a US starter account to your bnet and level a char to 10. The Bnet account just has to have a current sub attached to one of it’s eight accounts in order for you to be eligible to post.

It’s literally free though, nobody from the EU people is paying for a 2nd sub.

Maybe a weird idea, but since it’s all online, why not have representatives from all over ?? That way no one has to feel left out and can be heard.

I understand, that it’s a USA company, but Europe has a huge playerbase, so does Asia. Why not have those included in the council as well. I don’t have high hopes for this…

There’s 2 at least that i know of from these EU forums that are on the council - Kretias and Prosident. no doubt there are more, but they have chosen to keep it quiet to avoid flaming, trolling, etc. so logically there would be representatives from the Asian playerbase too
