Whoa there cowboy. There’s nought wrong with dairylea cheese (even if it is barely cheese) especially the dipping dunkers.
But that dominoes order, can’t give you a pass for that. If it’s dominoes I’m going double decadence on the base (two thin bases with cheese between) as a minimum standard. And yes there will be cheese on top too.
But stack up on the meat beyond that, fair play, I do the same, I just keep all the other stuff in it too.
That’s basically interesting minding the discussion about sexualisation. Some men argue that women would get equally sexualised male characters for male npcs being shirtless and having a six pack. Assuming that women would find shirtless guys with six pack equally attractive as they do with big boobs. Which kind of isn’t true. Skinny guys can be totally hot whereas muscles can look upright disgusting from a certain degree. Also, if you then come to talk about “other male sizes” they’ll be shouting “No, that’s something completely different!” No it is not. Sexualisation is about highlighting seductive features. So why is as much as stating that said features might be completely different for men and women a no go as soon as it involves quite a taboo zone for men in their lower region? Female boobs are up for VERY visible display. Both are external sexual characteristics of each gender. But only one can be objectified? Okay then. Compensating much?
Stop discriminating cheese! Try a good Edammer or Gouda! Your UK Cheddar disasters aren’t a standard for European cheese delight!
See above!
Of course. Black lesbians have been known for being some of the most dangerous sex offenders on earth when it comes to abuse of white men. And together with the black hardcore feminists, they try to surrect a black matriarchy where withe men are bound to serve and wear chains around their neck while running around completely naked, sexualised and humiliated! My secret plan is to make a career as an auctioneer on the white male slave market in that - bright - future we’re heading towards!
The main thing wrong with the title of the topic seems to stem from non-native English speaking; in French & German, at least, the standard pluralisation is applied to the singular term - Femme, Femmes; Frau, Frauen. A missed assumption that women is a singular term & adding an -s would pluralise it - as is often the case in written English - would be logical.
As far as retroactively addressing erroneous behaviours of former members of staff is concerned, by removing in-game references to them; that’s pretty ‘par for the course’… but when it comes to removal of game assets that have rarely - if ever - caused offense as part of the same ‘cleansing’ goes, that’s a bit over the top (hyper-remedial; is that a term?).
Even the political camp that resort to “cancel” can’t even define that correctly.
They should add more, then !
Let’s be serious, that’s ridiculous. I mean, removing some pixels and renaming some titles won’t ensure that women employed by Blizzard would get an actual fair treatment and work environment.
Talking aboot “sack”, I do think that sacking the problematic employees is a nice step in the right direction.
If they do then I’ll get into the next available flight for LAX…Oh wait, we can’t yet.
Stilton would like a word with you… Dutch cheeses don’t really stand out as excellent examples of variety, in my experience… I’d choose Emmental over Edam, any day.
For contextual clarity, cheesy means “cringe-worthy”.
You get free Brigante points for not only using the phrase ‘cheesy’, but for using ‘Cringe’ in it’s correct sense; ‘Cringeworthy’
I remember that mock band (Who were actually musically talented) called ‘Richard Cheese and Lounge against the Machine’, who did covers of rock/industrial tracks, but as a cheesy lounge/swing style! Their version of ‘Down with the sickness’ was a thing of awful beauty…
Quite liked Dairylea triangles on crackers, before watching tat like the original Battlestar Galactica, or the A-Team on a Saturday late afternoon.
I eat those things so quickly one of my mates went "You’re a ******* Animal, man, its like watching a dog scoff food that someone has dropped off the table, but then he’s a Vegan, so what does he know…
Some TV Advertising (Anybody remember the Diet Coke adverts) would disagree with you, but I do get the general point. Abs and a six pack aren’t -as- sexualised as female bits.
Useful to know, I am not making notes here for future reference at all
I could try to explain that in a way that actually is nothing to do with sexualisation of people, which I think we all agree is wrong, but I am trying to find a way of doing so that wouldn’t get me a ban. Lets try. It is rather obvious when a chap is…err, excited, more so than a woman. It is also, despite what some uber crazy writers may state, entirely involuntary (and in some cases downright awkward, unnecessary and embarrassing). It really is involuntary, we don’t get a choice in what the maniac downstairs is doing. “Oh, I’ve woken up with that going on? Great, I was having a dream about giant robotic dinosaurs ruling the earth and you were OK if you kept the curtains closed, but you had to get food, so you had to hide under the ruins of cars, to make your way to Sainsbury’s, which is inexplicably still open in the face of a Robosaur invasion of Earth, and there was a guy moaning and wandering around with a teatowel over his face so you couldn’t see it, and for some reason I wake up with -that-. Well, clearly I have issues…I Don’t think anyone could categorise them, but…”
This is true, I am terrified of ‘Skin’ from the band Skunk Anansie. That might be just because she is a scary angry person as her stage persona. Still got an awesome voice and writes brilliant music though
You ever been to Soho? Some people pay good money for that. I wish I was joking, I do have a friend who is both Lesbian and PoC and seriously, there is a market for it…she used to work in that industry!
That’s the point, No one can…
Meh, no skin off my nose, I’ll be IRL vaguely scornful as to how useless their armour choices are, but In Game it’s part of the setting I guess.
Another use of the word ‘Sack’ which proves why it’s removal is a little bit archaic and silly, yes, it does indeed mean to fire someone…
Well, you kinda can, but…you need a lot of checks and a Covid Passport first (Which are actually pretty easy to get, I got one within 48 hours) But still a lot of hassle to go to to shout “Fix bewbs on paintings”
Done a paranormal investigation at Pendle a few years ago, yielded some interesting results.
Same, due to my wife’s mobility problems. Hard work at times which is why it leads me to…
Top marks to both you guys,I’m pretty much in the same boat. I have developed a rather unhealthy relationship with strong English ales or the mind altering Belgian stuff - but I have stopped smoking as of yesterday
It’s not for us. It is for investors and shareholders improving PR. Basically other companies who deal with Blizzard can say “look Blizzard is respecting woman and dealing with oversexualized content”.
Thanks for clarifying. Not that I wouldn’t have noticed myself… Was rather a humorous reference I’ve built up there but I already recognised that UK people have their issues with understanding German humour and vice versa.
Emmantal-er is great. So is Brie. Can’t deal with Limburger though. Stilton… meh…
B. You’re taking a bit of much notes lately to what I write! You’re a spy or something!?
Nor do our nipples! If it’s cold or they’re aroused, they will do the pointy thing! Even more evidence that upper region and lowlands can indeed be equalled regarding sexualisation!
Love Skunk Anansie. Her duet with Maxim from Prodigy was
while i don’t usually like to be involved in those subjects in forums since alot of drama coming out of it but like why is it okay for men characters to be shirtless (illidan etc) everyone is overly muscular etc yet some painting that literally no one noticed and probably no one ever would’ve if its not for the change, the change itself is minor but it went terribly wrong, you see… im from the middle east and let me tell you those changing women to a fruit or too much “revealing” painting and cover themselves gave me very bad vibes and bad examples i know in real life considering im coming from a area with similar culture of trying the same thing but not for care for women but to silence them and belittle them etc
While this isn’t a big deal, like really its just paintings that no one really cares about but it really makes you think whats next, in my view it seems like blizzard here tried to fix their image but in result they accidently made it seem the opposite actually, same as the word blacklisting thing, like no one assumed blacklisting is something to do with racism but then you just censor the word black which implied to me “if you think its racist in first place, maybe you should consider asking yourself a thing or too” it gave me the same vibes of someone saying something racist but then throwing “im not racist, i have black friend!” you catch my drift
Also, made me think how it is more okay to literally behead people, genocide entire species and cultures, kill someone based of its race in this game but as soon some gender body part got little bit exposed its like the end of the world
for me they should try to focus on fixing the problem with harrsers in their offices instead of minor things in games tbh, its a fantasy game and it should stay as fantasy, real life problems must be taken care of first
i don’t know if my take is an hot take but no hate to either side
However the term SJW refers to people on the far left, coined by themselves same as the term wokeness, and for a lack of a better word those people much like the far right are problematic. And because alot of the demands of the far left have been asinine outrageous when it comes to pop culture (removing boob armor from female mandalorians etc.) and calling everyone that disagrees with them an ist, a phobe, a white supremacist, a yahtzee those terms have become derogatory, and because we are what ? In our 6 or 7th year of meaningless changes to our favorite franchises all for the sake of brownie points (and it is just for brownie points because if something is changed to be lets say LGBTQ friendly and that something also has a chinese release, you can bet your gold that China will be getting the “sanitized” version of the product) even normies and centric people (which I consider myself to be) started using those terms, but because again normies… people who do not really dig in or read politics do not differentiate Left leaning from Far Left leaning. Much like the Right, the radical Left screwed social perception for everyone under the their banner and not just the bad apples. Why? Because they are calling centric people who disagree with them on lore and storytelling “alt right trolls” and “Hitler supporters”.
So don’t pretend that you don’t understand what the issue is with those terms and don’t hide it behind “we just want to treat people equally and respectfully”. I do not want LGBT+, PoC or women to be censored, but I also do not want them to be the prominent characters is everything that comes out in current year. I want men to act like men and be emasculated or talking about “how their toxic masculinity is a problem for them and society”. I want women to act like women and to look like women, not manhandling a 150 kg beast with their bear knuckles, and not look like Hulk Hogan but with a braid.
And how does a typical man / woman act or look like after your definition if I may ask? Because they come in all kinds of natural shapes, sizes and personalities.
If you are unable to look in the mirror and see how your gender is physically different from the opposite one I cannot help you… But i can point you in the right direction, start with shoulder size and continue moving down.
However I was referring to the fact that women in pop culture have become more and more masculine, to the point where its essentially Emma Stones face swapped onto John Cena’s body (google current She-Hulk, Captain Carter or that new HS paladin hero i forget her name and you will see what I mean), also the reduction of breast sizes, as D cup-er i feel offended and underrepresented, thank god I am no longer a red head because I would literally have no one to identify with when watching movies and playing games.
Women being prominent characters in content should not be considered special or strange.
The fact that you still consider this a thing of “agenda” and that for you “normal” means male dominated content is precisely why the producers should keep insisting on this.
You might be broken beyond repair, but new generations might still have a chance to build a better society with less chauvinism.
I am not considering it special and you latched on to the first thing that fit your narrative. The key word in my post is “EVERYTHING” and that we are not getting masculine straight men in male dominated franchises anymore. Look at the He-man re-boot sequel, hell look at SL and tell me one masculine heterosexual male that is prominent. And before you twist my words no i do no think WoW is male franchise.
And this is why terms like SJW and woke are derogatory children, the more you know.
Oh I am very well aware of my female features. But I’m also aware of things like shoulder sizes differing as much as breast sizes. Or stronger built that makes you unable to fit into your average bulemic model sizes for fashion. You don’t need to be overweight to not fit in there. Just have the wrong -shoulder- size. The back stitches of my gothic coat could sing you a song about it, for example… Nothing to do with body fat but simply with it being cut really slim around the shoulders.
Not really paying much attention to pop culture but you’re citing comic figures there. I’ve looked up Captain Carter and can tell you, there are indeed women naturally built like that, so you’re actually discriminating them.
I have c to d cups, too. And what I’m personally way more offended about is that I barely see any coloured female main roles in movies. Sure, big boobs usually only get acknowledged in movies when they’re unnaturally pumped up by surgery too. And I specifically don’t like how that cup size plays a major role in the p0rn industry instead of normal movies either. All helps to fetishize and objectify women with a bigger boob size.
Women resizing their boobs is a different issue. Some do it because of back pain. Some because they don’t like men staring on them and reducing them to sexual features. Others have issues with big boobs getting saggy. One can argue about whether this is necessary or not. What I really don’t get is why you would dye your beautiful ginger hair though…
Possible probably but realistically what is the % of people like that. And the point I was making was that its not a one off and its becoming trend to portray women like that instead of our more natural hour class shape.
Sure, why not? But that being said I do not want them to be forced in like that Anne Boleyn series.
Same with huge muscles and abs for men. And it is equally unrealistic for the average Joe to look like Henry Cavil as it is for you or I to look like a one piece female character (scratch that one piece females aren’t human). And I cannot speak for anyone but myself but when I see some of the Marvel Chis’s (except Prat ) the humidity in the room drastically changes if you know what I mean.
Also to go back to my original point a body type like Captain Carter is equally unachievable for a regular women as is the perfect “oversexualized” body type. But If we are speaking about what I would prefer to look at and look as I personally would choose the later and not the former. Same goes for men, ask any male who would they rather look like Danny DeVito or Arnold Schwarzenegger.
I like the color Black.
EDIT 1 (probably will have more) So I forgot to give context about the Captain Carter one, ok so she started looking like a man after taking the super soldier serum which essentially bulks you up, she was modeled after the actress who played her in the movies Hayley Atwell (duh), you cannot tell me that the muscular version of that women is a WWE wrestler.
But that’s the thing really. Terms like “average” or “regular” are hard to proof and more often than not set by an unrealistic beauty standard in media. That being said, beauty standards have been changing since the beginning of time really. And it is illogical to think this would stop in our times. We had the underweight model trend for decades now. And while I’m not homophobe (some good friends of mine are actually part of the LGBTQ+ community), you can’t deny that gay designers like Lagerfeld had quite the influence on female fashion there. A very creative influence for sure. But it came with certain features in appearance of models that you could surely tie to a sexual preference of said designers. Nothing wrong with that. If women like that fashion and it’s trending it has its legitimacy. But it also excluded a lot of women not fitting that trend from being recognised.
Not being recognised doesn’t mean you are a minority. It just means, you’re not paid attention. Black women are by all means no minority. They’re just not recognised in media that much. Big girls, girls with strong built or a bit of a masculine touch to their appearance aren’t a minority either. They just weren’t trending for a while whereas they indeed got glorified in medieval times and still are in certain cultures. Your Captain for example fits many depictions of valkyries and amazones. The female warrior that often has a higher testosterone level by default. Sports association for Olympia is currently on a ridiculous law idea to force African women, of whom some have a higher testosterone level by nature and therefore are good at running, to undergo hormone therapy before being allowed to participate in sports competition. Two runners were suspended from this years olympia already because of that. Is that a realistic representation of women in public? Are women like Serena Williams next to get stripped off their medals because she doesn’t match the “standard built and performance” of “average female tennis players”? On the other side, the term “Valkyrie” in regions like Bavaria often gets used to describe women who have a natural warrior’s built, too. I have at least three of them among my German part of family. The term is old and its use is old and it being a common description tells me that “valkyrie built” wasn’t really a one-time phenomenon in the past. I’m really careful with defining “average standards” by now. Is like saying female Blood Elf appearance would be average, female Night Elf, dwarf, orc or Kul Tiran appearance is not. All those body shapes exist in reality. And while only a few get sexualised or more adored for fulfilling a certain beauty ideal, it doesn’t mean they’re the majority.
Don’t know… white people have been playing African and Asian characters for about a century. Still continue to do so in certain history movies. Liz Taylor as Cleopatra was legendary. No one took offense about her being way lighter than a Greek-Persian queen living in very sunny North Africa probably was. It’s really only ever an issue when whites don’t get their white represented properly for some reason.
Not sure about that either. While I don’t find Henry Cavil attractive, I’m around quite a lot of strongmen being part of the Viking scene. A lot of them aren’t really attractive either despite being overpumped. That being said, there are plenty of men living a normal life achieving such a body. To me, the fact that not more men are looking like that is rather found in a historical responsibility of women to be the decorative ornament accompanying a man. Had it with Brigante earlier about it. Pretty men often are / were not deemed manly. As a consequence, men usually weren’t encouraged to put some effort into their appearance. Laziness and unrealistic aren’t the same.
