i mean, come on everytime i enter a PvP match atleast half the horde team consists of blood elf palas, its annoying cause they are so predictable, constantly charging at you and spamming self heals when they realise they dun goofed.
its prolly the most abused class/race combo on the horde

Well Paladins are the "cool" knight class and Blood Elves are the "cool" race.
It's the race/class combination that allows players to feel cool with "muh skills" and usually with some edgy or anime name!

yea ive seen alot of them, usually they have the same transmog aswell so its hard to tell them appart. and in PvP since they are so easy to trick, all you have to do is kite them around like you are the last one alive on the boss and they will keep flailing around trying to catch up, its hilarious
Yeh, to be fair you always should be able to kite the eejits that don't think. Serves the "cool kids" right!

People still choose races by the look rather than racials and how they combo with the class they're playing, even after all this years...
Before BFA, for any melees, Tauren were by far better than Belfs racials wise :
Mass stun>mass interrupt: anytime, anywhere,in both pvp and pve, especially since you're a melee, you can stun both interuptable and uninterruptable spells, but you can only interrupt the interuptable spells, also stuns just completely incapacitate the target.
Stamina buff : makes them instant bis tanks, usefull in pvp too.
2% critical effects >1% critical chance.
The tiny mana gain on arcane torrent for an additional 1-2 heals compared to the above doesn't weight much.
Seeing melee belfs before BFA made me cringe a little, But now, Arcane torrent is broken beyond comprehension, so i understand why they're the best pick.
Before BFA, for any melees, Tauren were by far better than Belfs racials wise :

IF you want to pay for my race change when zandalari trolls comes out i am changing in a heartbeat.
The reason for me being blood elf is simply because this char was made before tauren even could be paladins and my first paladin was made in TBC so even further back in time from that point.
I wont bother level a new paladin up from 1 to 120 just to have a zandalari paladin though so depending if i am ok with spending the money or not will depend on what race i am in the future.

And while you speak of PvP, have you seen how useful Blood Elves' racial has been this expansion? So many things to dispell - and some mobs that even dies when they are dispelled! It's just natural that the paladin class on Horde should pick the best race for it!

I'd rather say this is the reason.. just my thoughts on the subject though.
Paladins have always been a popular class, which is natural, considering the class fantasy of a protector of light, it's the closest you'd get to an actual knight in this game.
Further more, horde is generally the more played faction of the two, not sure why, but for most servers this has been the case..
Now, if we take the above statements (and ssume that they are right).. You start the game as a newbie, you have decided to play a paladin (because they're awesome).. All your friends naturally already play horde, since it seems to be the more popular faction.
Now you're faced with a choice... do you want to be the ugliest race in the game (Tauren), or do you want to be a race that at least resembles something with some kind of dignity? That is, do you want to be a clown-cow or something else?
If you DON'T want to be a cow, which lets be honest, isn't appealing to a lot of people, you're stuck with a blood elf. It's simply the lesser of two evils..
If I were Alliance my paladin would have choices, I'd have to consider at least two races (human or dwarf), but no, I'm horde, so my only choice is a blood elf, which I don't particularily like, but it's ten times better than being a tauren.
And to just sum this up, the new trolls fall in the same category as cows for me.. So I'll still be running around as a blood elf..

Well arcane torrent is still the best racial for healers iirc, which explains why at least so many of the holydins are blood elfs. It's still a minimal increase, but for me the choice of playing a blood elf when I rolled a healer on horde was the only choice. Besides tauren paladins only came in cataclysm. So belf is a natural choice for someone who's played a horde paladin for a long time - why pay for a race change if you're somewhat happy with your char.
