@All: Thing is… ALL decisions have some sort of consequences, some very minor, others huge. As far as boosts are concerned, there are actually multiple different conditions that exist concurrently and mostly independently from each other…
A) People who do not want a boost and can not afford one.
B) People who want a boost, but can not afford one.
C) People who do not want a boost even though they could afford one.
D) People who want a boost and can afford one.
E) People who are personally indifferent towards the boost regardless of their financial status.
F) People who belong to groups A and C and also wish others could not acquire one.
G) People who belong to groups B and D and are also ok with others acquiring one.
H) Subgroups of E, people who still have a preference between others being / not being able to use boosts.
Now, with so many different situational options it is highly probable that the groups are not of identical size and several posters have made very different predictions about this.
Ideally speaking, it would (probably) be best, if there were both boost allowed and boost not allowed realms. Sadly from some (many?) people’s point of view, this is unlikely to happen. Blizzard decided to make boosts available. This decision meant that certain people elected to buy one. Some of those people are only playing, because the boost became available. At the same time, some people elected to not play (TBCC), because they do not like the boost. Thing is… At least I fully admit that I have absolutely no idea, which group is bigger… nor exactly how that specific split affects the game both short and long term… Blizzard most likely had some people run many different kinds of scenarios through and we all ended up where we are now.
As to the future… I just wish that people were able to co-exist relatively peacefully regardless of their views on the boosts.
On a purely personal level… I am not rich, but if I desperately wanted a boost, I could acquire one. However, I am one of those people who like levelling. So, I will level up in retail, classic and TBCC and along the way, try to treat my fellow players in a manner I would prefer to get treated myself… with respect as a fellow human being. I will also attempt to have fun on the way, because if I ever reach a point, where I feel I am not having fun / learning new things / making new comrades at arms / friends at least some of the time, it is then time to call quits. So far, over 13 years have passed and I have not yet hit that point. I am not a great player in terms of achievements nor skill and I know some people feel that my very presence (in BGs / dungeons) is detrimental to their fun in the game… and I am sorry about that.
TLDR: Please try to get along with your fellow players. Thank you!
