Why the "fix your shortcuts" warning?

So far the battle.net launcher has always launched the latest version regardless of which EXE I clicked, even if I clicked the installer. It was really convenient for Proton users, because you could just add the installer and install and it’d work out of the box, without having to fix the path like you have for other games.

And battle.net is shady about its updates, installs them in Gods-know-what location under some hidden system folders and random numbers, and you can’t even control it unless you use a program that manipulates the filesystem such as Proton.

How am I supposed to fix my shortcuts if I don’t even know where the latest version is? And I’m still using the same shortcut that the official installer generated. How about you fix your shortcut yourselves?

Considering that Proton is not officially supported by Blizzard or the Battle.net team, this is a problem that you need to fix by yourself with the Proton community. So stop acting all high and mighty because you can’t get your Linux based system to work properly.

I had that problem, I googled and found the solution was to uninstall and reinstall the launcher.

This fixed the issue for me. Hope it works for you too :four_leaf_clover:
