Why the hate?

Hi, I am just wondering, why do so many at the moment seem to be very outspoken about disliking Fury Warriors. What is going on?

I am just the casual Fury Warrior doing my own keys, chillin’ and trying to have a good time in M+. The key starts, I do my part, at the end of the key I do a little summary and try to justify my participation.

I do understand that Fury is unpopular because of the percieved notion that we don’t bring any value, or even worse, seen as being a detriment for the group. Mainly because our damage profile is not focused on AoE mass cleave, but priority damage. Even so, it seems weird to me that people are outright hostile about this. Calling me ‘useless’, ‘waste of air’, ‘quit the game you ****’ and so the list goes; for no crime other than being lower on the overall.

Even if I do justify my lower overall towards the fact that I do about a quarter to double DPS on bosses and lieutenants. It seems like the community has started to sour against my chosen warrior spec.

Is there really no value to me killing bosses faster, so the key ends quicker, even if this means my overall DPS is lower?

Is there not even value in me bringing up others overall by making their weaker DPS periods as short as possible?

I am honestly interested to hear your opinion of this. Of why, and that is an if, you go out of your way to make sure that I am aware that my AoE damage is bad.

I am very aware that my overall DPS is comparably low to others. Is it really necessary to whisper me before the key, or midkey stop after a mass AoE pull and call my DPS ‘garbage tier’. At least I can understand the anger or frustration after a failed key, but even if it is timed… I still get comments about how I would be better off not being there at all.

This season is a rough one for myself and likely other Fury Warriors in a PuG environment. Understandably we are not a popular choice, as our lack of an overall DPS impact is crystal clear; and our strength is only tolerated as ‘a thing’ in premades. I will even concede to the point of our strenght being very theoretical. At what point does killing bosses faster really help the key being completed faster? Does shaving 1 minute off a bossfight or 15 seconds of a lieutenant, make up for the unknown loss of time to AoE DPS? I have no idea if I saved the team time, or if I wasted it.

This is why I can understand why shade is being thrown my way.

I just dont get why though, the need to go out of the way to make sure that I am aware that I am unwanted. The push to making me feel bad about being there, even if I am using my own keystone and I set the run up. That even when the team succeeds, no matter the timer, I must be made aware that my performance was a huge problem.

I ask,

Why?

Just wondering what that means?

Its not hate, you just have to wait till season 3 where your spec might be on the most wanted list.

And what is the need for that if you are pugging ?
True kitty doesnot justify their participation .they use their feline instincts .

I can relate to an extent on my warlock, as the amount of hate I got for playing it is criminal, ignoring the variety of reasons why my damage may be lower overall compared to others.

If you did not try it yet I recommend checking out a key community or discord like No Pressure. The player skill levels have a wide range, but atleast you do not have to listen to comments to disconnect irl because your details bar is shorter than the others.

The wl my guild are doing around 2,5 million dps overall in mplus

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/xvHy9wpm3rB1ZQ2D?fight=3&type=summary

im no mplus pusher, just doing my 8 10th for the weekly, but wl seems fine?

I am sure they are with proper gear. Mine is still in the middle of the gearing process, which means no good trinkets and no 4 set for him yet.

I still need to get the rotation muscle memory down and everything. I mainly do 10s with my guild so my lock gears faster and invite a random pug when we are short.

Still, I never got this level of hate from dungeon content before. And I am not that far away from the other DPS, atleast not far enough to warrant the comments I am getting.

I am hoping that the tier and a few good trinkets, with some practise, will solve this, but it got to the point that I am feeling anxious about inviting Balance druids into the group.

Ew, Furies.

That I do a quick reflection of how things went, what I did right, what I did wrong and what I could improve upon, and, to prove to myself that I did do my part in the group; as I partly can do with what I mentioned a bit later on.

As the feedback I get is abnormal negative and pointed, I also put extra effort on these two.

Fury never really was. Yet, this is the first season where people actively go out of their way to say these things. This is also the first season in a long time where Fury falls this far behind on AoE, even if the overall DPS difference remains close to the same.

If they end with 3.5m, and I end with 3m, that is enough to cause these remarks to be thrown around in party chat. Yet, when I tank, even with similar to worse DPS differences between party members, I do not see this pattern of behaviour in the group. Of course, Fury do have one unique standout. So,

If I had to guess, it got something to do with the first pulls of the dungeons where Fury really looks weak. We are talking everyone and the tank doing 10+ million DPS, and myself doing around 5m. Even as I do catch up over the dungeon to mentioned example overall, the tone has been set for that run and how they will interact towards myself.

Weirder yet, I get whispers from people who doesn’t even que up to join my group, tell me that Fury is dog water and all matter of comments to have me go away.

There is a reason why I do want to hear people’s opinion of this, especially from those who side with the anti-fury stance.

I want to know why.

If you are demo, tier is huge. Great for Destro as well but demo gains like 20% going from Palace 4set to Undermine 4set.

There’s no excuse for people behaving that way. You’re not doing anything objectively wrong, I hope you know that.

People are free to pick and choose who they want to play with. And if they prefer other classes/specs, fine, their choice. But harassing you over your choice is so over the line, it’s crass behaviour.

Blame stuff like those idiotic wowhead tier lists that players then further parrot with their own nonsense on top. Every class and spec can do just fine in M+. Not everyone HAS to bring utility and stuff. Seen plenty warriors do just fine with top interrupts and damage which is more than can be said for others with their tons of utility…

People are just dumb. Try joining a community if you want to avoid the toxicity, i hear good things about No Pressure.

I am currently dabbling in Destro, but I was considering swapping over to one of the other specs instead.

His vault has house of cards though, which should be an upgrade to my candle or to my sigil. I just have to push through the weekly first to see what I get before I pick it up.

Probably this - our AOE ain’t exactly the best, but we do so much better in ST. I don’t pug(Scared of Dungeons community is good for learning the ropes), but i haven’t done m+ at all this expansion, so I’m not best qualified to say anything.

Incidentally, has your fury warrior joined our guild recently?? I seem to remember a Funkykittie joining a few weeks ago, my apologies if its not you…
