Why the level 58 boost is bad for the game #stoptheboost

So the whole game should adapt because YOU don’t want to level. Even though we don’t have a release date yet so you would most like be lvl 60 before it came out anyway.
And after you have played for a week and your still level 61 you quit the game because it’s obvious that you won’t have fun playing this game 1h/Day and the rest of the players are is now stuck with this feature and all its problems for 2 years.

You dont deserve to even set foot in Outland if you cant even be bothered to level up

The Missing Diplomat, after that patch, runs to it’s full conclusion, is quite interesting, and well worth doing again.

There are also a considerable number of very, very grindy TBC quests with very low drop rates. Timber Worg Tails in Terrokar Forest is a particularly notorious example, as is Umbrafen Eel Fillets in Zangarmarsh. There are hundreds of other examples.

However you are right in that the amount of travel time is significantly reduced by dint of the hubs being far more self-contained.

Grindy quests with low drop rates are a staple of old school MMOs. What the developers want, and expect you to do is grind mobs for experience. Quests like these could easily just say “kill 40 worgs”, and the result would be the same, but humans respond better to the notion of probability. You may indeed have to kill 40 worgs for the quest - but the tails might drop after only killing 20 - so we grind them out as intended, gaining experience along the way, always hoping that this worg will be the last we need to kill for the tail. Possibility is more psychologically pleasing than cold certainty.

The alternative is to do as they did in Cataclysm and significantly boost XP gain, and significantly reduce the need for grinding, and ensuring you complete zones very, very quickly - but this is the kind of thing that Classic enthusiasts such as I hate, as it feels (to us) far less fulfilling than actually putting in the grind and the legwork.

I’m they type of person that can make shoveling snow, mowing the lawn, folding sheets and leveling a char from 0-60, enjoyable. You just have to make it enjoyable yourself sometimes. Yes its the same quest you did on the previous 7 chars. But adjust leveling routes and plan ahead to see if you can beat the time you had when you leveled that last char in desolace. Perfect your routes. Pick a profession you haven’t tried before. Find all rare mobs and kill them. Same with shoveling snow. Create a system for yourself that you then can improve and be more effective etc. “Maybe if I start in november by putting the snow to the left over by the terrace, I will be able to have an easier time in march when i want to bring out the bbq and outdoor furnies”. Guess most people pay a dude to remove the snow tho…and boost their game chars. Cuz i mean why would any1 play a game they “hate”…when they can pay to not play. 5head for sure.

HAHA! try to make sense of this post trolls…

Correct me if I’m wrong but the boost is purchasable or readily available? Cuz if it’s the former that’s stupid and if it’s the latter I can kinda accept that cuz what you’re getting is a barebones package. You’re still gonna need to farm your BIS gear… now don’t get me wrong if this is gonna become a thing every new classic xpac that’s gonna be garbage… but if I’m being honest as long as they don’t massively screw up TBC I don’t mind. As I plan on keeping my character in a TBC server if we ever get wrath and beyond.

It makes perfect sense to me, though I don’t do any of that. I just enjoy the questing regardless, so I don’t really need to do any of that. I’m in an exotic virtual world, filled with strange beasts, strange races and fantastical locations and I’m flinging spells, or outrageous combat moves around like a true fantasy character.

In short, I’m completely immersed in the world, and living in the moment, even if it’s just grinding through furbolgs or skinning boars. It doesn’t matter if I’ve done it a zillion times before on other characters.

Of course I suffer burnout like everyone else, and I often take long breaks away from the game, but it’s always fresh when I come back.

At the same time I like to have structure and systems, because that’s how I am. I have a tried-and-tested quest/levelling route through vanilla that works, take in as much content as possible, and always gets me to level cap with plenty of quests to spare. Got one for TBC too, and even Wrath.

classic leveling was defs part of classic
cba rushing a char to 60 rn before launch cus l wanna reroll

honestly the TBC boost doesn’t directly benefit me since I’m rolling a belf (which can’t be boosted), so if y’all are gonna (somehow) complain to the point of having it removed then just have my signature cuz it doesn’t help me so it might as well not exist.

That is… Good to know. I have a lvl 18 priest sitting in Loch Modan for 9 months as my highest alt. I might actually try to level her in the prepatch with all the space goat elemental whisperers to see the “human lands” storyline concluded. You know, instead of boosting her as I intended.
Look, I understand your fears, and they are not unfounded. But we know how Actizzard is with greed. The paid boost is a foregone conclusion no matter how hard you campaign against it. But I am sorry about the spite thing. I understand you have good intentions.

That’s OK, and no apology required. I did cattily tell you that you had a retail mindset, so I likely deserved it.

Passions run high in these kind of topics, they’re very emotive, and it’s very easy to get emotional, and allow emotions to dictate responses, rather than cool-headed logic and reason.

Most of the boost enthusiasts I’ve encountered so far:

  1. Always talk about what THEY want and have nothing to say about the community or the integrity of the game.
  2. I’ve come across many well-known bots/gold sellers that have “legendary seller” status on well-known websites defending the boost with great fervor, on reddit, twitter and youtube. This tells you a lot.
  3. They don’t have many “arguments”. I’ve rarely seen any argument by boost enthusiasts except for “levelling is boring”, "I don’t have time to play but I want everything in the game ", “I want this/that” or in the best case scenario “it will bring more players”.
  4. Their entire effort is to produce counter-arguments: that counter nothing. They try to find a flaw or something bad in the game to justify the decision. Such as “mages are boosting in dungeons anyway”. This is the same logical fallacy we see in corrupt politicians: “well, we committed a crime because others before us did another crime”.
  • You tell them “there will be a lot of bots” - their counter-argument is “well there is bots already.”
  • You say “economy will be ruined because of profession alts” their ca is “well economy is ruined already”
  • You say “faction balance will be worse” they say “well faction balance is bad already”.
  • You say “there will be more fotm class rerollers” they say “well people will roll form classes anyway”.
  • You say “there will be a lot of newbies in high level content” they say “well there are noobs clearing naxx already”.

There is ONE SINGLE WORD that these people can’t comprehend and that word is

MORE.

These people just pretend to not understand what “quantity” means because it suits their purpose. A hundred times asking the same thing you never get a response: Do you understand what MORE means? Yes there are all these, there will be MORE.
A lot of them will bot and make a bank full of money, so they lie. Some are just lazy and will create an army of level 58 profession alts to flood the market with tailoring/alchemy mats.

TBC will not be anywhere near any fun that we expected, I lost the hype, gonna play and see the content though. I just advice you to try it as well, but make sure to try not spend any money to any Actilizzard game, because “learning lessons from classic” was just a farce and it’s still the same Activision as they were before.

I think this article seems to fit,

It is very fit for you indeed, since you are the most consistent shill on these forums. Hope it helps, though.

Oh and btw, if I was paid, I would’ve probably been a shill all the way as well, see, I can sympathize.

It’s also a fit for those against the boost.

You don’t need to be the first to hit level cap. You can still play with friends without the boost.
Paying to skip portions of the game is exactly what retail is for and people that generally play classic come here to get away from that. Its everything classic doesnt want to be

I’m still completely baffled by the people who say they don’t have time to level as they have jobs, families etc.

It’s like they view the game as some kind of race, where extra points are given for completing it in the quickest possible time.

Plus there’s reroll projects going ahead.
People can level that way right?

Nah, takes too long, they don’t have time. Plus it’s boring and rubbish and they hate it.

Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to buy a copy of Championship Manager. I hate football, but I’m going to play it anyway, and then complain loudly on their message boards that there’s far too much football in the game.

The reason you left retail Tanvar is because you completely destroyed your own reputation on two different realms. Voicing your opinions but as per usual you do it a condescending manner.

The reason I left retail was because I find it boring.
I tried Shadowlands and got bored within 2 weeks.

Proving you know nothing once again (who tf are you anyway)
