** (2020-10-13): Renamed to Will to Survive. Tooltip reduced.
Was it because it had the word “man” in it and devs got triggered?
Because its the oldest saying and today people (devs foremost it seems) seem to actively just look for things to get upset or triggered about rather than listen to player-feedback and create the best possible game, but thats just my opinion whats yours?
this is 1 year old. anyway ill copy and past a reddt answer
“I don’t think this has anything to do with gender. “Every Man for Himself” has a negative connotation - basically a coward running away and leaving others behind. It’s not very “on theme” for the Heroic Humans of Stormwind. “Will to Survive” makes it sound like a more positive trait.”
Man is usually used to mean humankind in English. It’s weird I know.
In this case the new name is more fitting since you aren’t breaking out of cc to flee from your team but to help win the fight and survive the next global.
Okay I disagree with that reddit-guy, if you get stunned and enemy team is about to burst you down are you a coward for escaping that scenario? The change is coming right in line with the recent “woke” changes or whatever to call the things they’ve done in-game (changed names on npc’s that had harmless fun names, replacing women with fruits etc)
I think you mean “exposing” rather than “discovering” the situation, Im not 100% ofcourse but very sure those people who made the most ridiculous changes in-game nobody asked for were working there then too.
A thinking person who doesnt believe everything that medianetworks and politicians say that have been proven to lie/twist reality multiple times through history, or did you have something else in mind?
Anyway Im not here to argue with people who refer to CNN and politicians as trustworthy, but an official statement about why they changed names on the humanracial would be great.
yes sorry. i meant exposing. ANyway… i agree about the ridiculous mess they are doin lately in game (fruit usw) im just sayin that imho this change wasnt related to this situation
Yeah it could be that way, I just think it was weird they didnt mention it anywhere in the patchnotes and just silently changed it. Guess we’ll see if someone comes and clarifys it.
I don’t think you should expect an official statement from them for every single change. They’ve made it clear on their official post “The Evolution of Creative Content in World of Warcraft” that they are going to continue to update names or references that they don’t see align anymore with their current values. That means that changes we (will/have) see(n), likely fall under their intent of that post.
