Why the restrictions for S2 catalyst gear?

Why is only suffused and rift gear eligible for the catalyst when it comes to open world content?

I have like 4 pieces of 415+ gear on multiple alts from researchers under fire and can’t even remember where else, that can’t be turned into tier for no reason, but awful suffused/time rift 402 gear can?

It’s a very stupid dynamic that has no justification. I don’t want to upgrade these items because those slots should be tier, and I can’t convert them to tier because of arbitrary restrictions that make no sense.

Why not just unlock it for all non-crafted gear that’s veteran+?

It’s the same restriction that was on S1 catalyst which was only primal storms gear. It’s M+ items, raid items, and primary world content event items.

Do I agree with that? Eh probably not, but it is consistent.

Same with zereth mortis, you needed to use the set bought with currency farmed in the desert area to catalyst for tier.

That doesn’t justify it at all really, it just means that the system has had stupid unnecessary restrictions from the start.

Time rifts and Fyrrak assaults aren’t harder or more meaningful than researchers under fire. If there’s anything this current team specializes in it’s making stupidly convoluted systems that have 20 different caveats where 1 would have sufficed.

I believe its because they are not season 2 gear as they did drop also before season 2 started at 9th may.
