Why Thrall/ Go'el must die!

What made Varian a true high king? His experience of loss.

  1. As a boy he lost his father to Garona. He lost his kingdom to the Orcish hordes!
  2. As a young man he lost his wife. He lost the trust of many of the commoners due to the Stormwind Nobles treachery to the stonemasons guild!
  3. As a man he lost his mind to the corruption of Onyxia, lost his freedom.

After suffering all he did, seeing the true cost of what it means to be a King, to protect his son, his people, his Alliance from the horrors of failure in war, the true cost of placing false trust in corrupted nobles like Onyxia & Neltharion, he became the strong, high King that the Alliance looked up to & followed.

Anduin lost his mother, lost his father, lost his friend Saurfang, lost his mind to the jailer. Anduin needs to be rebuilt into a man who can trust himself & the light, trust those around him & he needs to lose Thrall, his friend & mentor to truly make him into a King.

Thrall needs to go out in a true mind blowing blaze of glory, die a warriors death to save the world like a true Orc and be welcomed to the hall of the frostwolf chieftains to be with his father, grandfather!

Blizzard already struggles to shake up the game’s systems and designs.

So imagine them deleting one of their last most iconic characters in the franchise. And not for a good reason here.

Won’t happen.

  • Thrall’s parents were murdered on Draenor
  • Thrall grew up in internment camps for basically whole his life
  • Thrall grew up as a gladiator
  • Thrall lost his best friends in life due politics

If anything the others haven’t suffered enough.

I think we’ve killed off enough main characters in recent expansions.

I disagree.
In a world at war, “main characters” don’t deserve plot armor. It cheapens the story and the world ceases to feel threatening and dangerous if everyone lives through each new cataclysmic event.

Thrall really, really needs to die. It’s long overdue.

I’m in support of his death but with Chris Metzen back this will never happen. Wasn’t Thrall his favourite or something?

Yes, the lore of this game suffers because Metzen loves his self-insert too much. This made made himself the main character of this video game. What an ego.

I will not have metzens lore slandered, pickle jesus was a great meme, the games lore is bad now, only because metzen wasn’t here. The bad lore is the fault of whoever was in his place, metzen has been a unit as far as the lore goes.

I am neutral to thrall dying, an iconic character but I never really liked or disliked him so I think it would be a shame to let him go but understandable, but if he does, by god let it not be some really stupid reason, let him be up there with varian in the hall of awesome deaths please.

I feel more and more disconnected from leadership when it’s a rotating door policy due to deaths etc.

The Horde in particular has had a ridiculous turnover in leaders. Thrall isn’t even a leader any more but it would seem lame to kill off a big name just for the sake of it. Honestly if I was going to volunteer one for the chop it would be Baine, especially after Shadowlands.

Honestly I think it’s not so much that an insane amount of warchiefs die, I think it’s only seen that way cause alliance like never lose anyone, like we lost varian and that kinda it, atleast as far as kings go.

But yeah I honestly would rather they kill off malfurian then have him either be asleep or do a insanely stupid trade for a life, like what they did to him in DF was an absolute disgrace, he wasn’t here this entire time, just so the person he traded with can go: “You didn’t need me after all.” and do nothing to help where malfurion could pump some heat.

And Tyrande isn’t much better, anytime she gets close to being a cool character, plot armor or random morals from left field show up to ruin it, like she isn’t a peaceful person, but I guess she isn’t violant either now cause she’s " focusing on regrowth" which is a bit whack but if you say so i guess.

So I’d rather tehy kill off the characters while they’re still good, before overusing them and they just become so annoying and inconsistent to fit the story just so you can say they were there.

Not to mention by killing off the things that wow is clinging too, blizz would be forced to make new longer lasting characters than the ones we’ve had for in game about 20 years now give or take I think.

Don’t have him die of a random heart attack or something obviously. You can give him a satisfying death, a heroic one.

But kill him off. He needs to die. We’ve had enough Thrall for a lifetime.

His father was king. The only qualification he needed.

Can we please not lose yet another Horde character? We’ve lost so many to death and villainy that it’s virtually become a meme, and you think we should lose one of our last few characters with any meaningful development.

Why?!

Oh, to give an Alliance character some more development. Well, that really makes sense… :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Ok first of all it aint like factions really matter anymore, considering we are all buddies and family now.

And second of all, why do you look like your about to ask if Mr.Potter has the key to his vault?

No, no, that will be anduin. Remember the lore bit where velen had a vision of the future where anduin would lead the forces of light versus the void? It will be anduin yelling fwends while leading both the horde and the alliance

Storywise, the Factions matter more than you think. They might be allies fighting to protect the world, but the Horde and Alliance still have more than a few differences and disagreements (historical and recent) that means they are going to butt heads on occasion. It’s just another layer of story, but it won’t be anything meaningful if one faction keeps losing its developed characters.

And as for that second question? You’re just jealous of my sense of style!
(Seriously, I’m a roleplayer. This is appropriate IC garb for a Goblin)

thrall is the 5th old god.

Just look at the names.

y’shaarj.
c’thun
yogg’saron
n’zoth
Go’el

They all have the same naming sense! He even tricked the dragons the protectors of azeroth into making him the aspect of earth and completely made them forget about that

Hes orc leader again.

This is agree with. Every original racial leader has died or villainised bar lorethemar. And tbh im kinda sick of it hence why i dont want another faction war

Shows how much interest I lost with the introduction of a council and removal of Warchief.
