Why transformation toys duration must be short

Does anyone know? What harm could there be in allowing players, particularly roleplayers, to stay transformed for longer periods of time than 5-10minutes? The cooldown on the transformation toys is usually many hours, why is that? Isn’t this very odd and unfun?

Can’t think of any decent reason for it.

Some things used to have longer durations but they nerfed them. I don’t understand the reasoning for it.

I remember the Darkmoon Fire wings used to be able to be kept up indefinitely, i think it had the same cd as the duration, so unless you died, you’d have permanent wings…

I guess they didn’t want a Fiona scenario where you lie about your actual race to marry a human man and it turns out you are a orc all along. :eyes:

Idk I’m just trying to make sense of something that doesn’t make sense

Yes, I’m trying to understand the mindset of this design. I think the toy “Kalytha’s Haunted Locket” could be a good model. With a duration of 30min and a cooldown of 15min. It’s just for fun, right? I hope Blizzard will reconsider these nerfs you mention, and rather buff all of them for more fun in the game.

I’m guessing it’s something like “If you can be transformed to another race indefinitely then what is the point of choosing a race/having race restrictions?”

The transformation toys are usually quite limited with regards to outfits, so the majority of players would be likely to pick a race they can gear as they choose. If a large number of players use a toy to transform and play over long periods of time as a specific race/creature, perhaps Blizzard could implement this option in the game.?

30min duration with a one-hour cooldown across the board could be acceptable from my point of view, but opinions may vary. Personally, I wouldn’t want any restrictions.

I wish that Transmorpher Beacon didn’t have an 1hr ICD. Originally, you could drop the buff you got from the ethereal and reroll. No cooldown or anything.

I literally screamed when I finally got the form of Blood Queen Lana’thel out of the many options - on the other hand, I often got bosses like Falric/Marwyn or a random pandaren. And that was a good year minimum after getting the toy. :frowning_with_open_mouth:

That one’s true as well. If I could assume this or that form but keep my transmog, would be neat.

Talking of those wings, they no longer seem to stick the the back of my druid’s fire kitten but instead hover behind my butt.

Ahagah falric!! I hope always to be him. The quote about the pears once almost caused a wipe in necrotic normal run.
I was laughing (totally forgot about that) and pulled 2 packs…
And this is why is better i dont run dungeon…

I guess they do it for the very reason you outline.

They’re supposed to be fun little transformations for your character. Not permanently new models for your character.

With this baby you can permanently turn yourself into a gnome, tho why would any sane person want this is the question.
