Why the most connected character is not in the campaign against Azshara? Disappointing
That would be Malfurion since he faced Azshara directly multiple times. But both of them are probally busy in Darkshore. Thalyssra on the other hand, is in nazjatar to prove Tyrande wrong, when she compared her to Azshara. Foreshadowing much.
Extra: beware. They will give jaina the final blow against Azshara. Mark my words.
Press X to doubt.
Because that would make the Kaldorei seem too OP, and Tyrande recently got a major buffâŠwhich brings her close to WC III levels of capability.
Iâm being highly cynical if that wasnât obvious.
Yeah, was hoping weâd have another thread on this.
Night Elf fans will argue that it is because their race has been butchered unjustly, others will argue that Blizz just doesnât have the time/resources to involve all chars/factions.
I agree that Tyrande shouldâve played a role in 8.2.
Blame the narrative for that.
Had this been a expansion about Old Gods as it should be, Tyrande would be there.
But Activision Blizzard decided to put a faction war where the protagonist in first part are the Orcs, Forsaken ⊠and Nigh Elves but not for the best reasons.
Right now Tyrande has her home literally on .
And Sylvanas isnât helping either.
Thereâs still Horde troops in Darkshore they are not going anywhere.
I doubt that Tyrande has time to think about Azshara.
From lore point of view Tyrande should be there, but that would also implies leaving Malfurion and Shandris to deal with Sylvanas.
From what I witnessed in legion she isnât the kind of person to leave her husband behind.
Also:
It seems after Azshara, the Alliance and the Horde start working together.
Can you see Tyrande in Jainaâs place speaking with Lorâthemar after all what the Horde did to the Night Elves ?
I canât.
Thatâs just my opinion.
Cheers.
Maybe⊠but I think she hates Azshara more than the Horde âŠ
Because her character doesnât fit with the current story they want to tell. Same reason they had to leave Orcs, Forsaken, Blood elves, etc out of the encounter with KilâJaeden (regardless of how huge and key he was for each of them).
They rather showcase the new additions and the characters that had a prominent role throughout the expansion (Kul Tirans).
That, or maybe they are casting Tyrande aside for a future plot in which they give the story a twist, and she is killed as a way to counter the Horde character losses or an âeducatingâ lesson against warmongering.
As things are right now, i xant think of any mildly logical peace scenario with either her or Sylvanas still around.
Another possibility is that she is indeed involved and her dialogue hasnât been datamined yet.
It would make perfect sense for Tyrande/Malf to be there, but they are such frustratingly two dimensional characters now that I donât even care, which is sad.
Donât cast all you see as truth. Things can change and progress. Low-key I also would like to change that thing with Baine and Hathorel.
For Tyrande and co, they should have a role there. Big or not. Anything will do. They might just come later.
I am waiting for more dataminiing and praying they donât mess up. At the very least give Tyrande and Mal a main role and compelling reason not be there.
what we know for sure is that Tyrande sent Shandris._
I still donât understand why Shandris . I mean sheâs a great General and fighter ⊠but Azshara was so powerful before turning into a Naga Queen âŠthe whole plot with killing her in the raid itâs so easy ⊠And I think that Azshara deserves more than a raid ⊠I mean if sheâs really the â Gulâdan â of this expansion than she will arrive in the next too ? Leading the forces of the Black Empire⊠or I am wrong ?
I totally agree with you, however the datamining suggests that we donât kill Azshara but only defeat her, regardless they put some random characters there, Loreâthemar is kinda pointless, he has no ties with Azshara, it should have been Talanji and Thalyssra for Horde, Malfurion,Tyrande, and Jaina Alliance.
But Blizzard once again proves themselves incompetent and confused with their own lore. I swear that the writing team has never read WOT,Stormrage,Wolfheart, and Seeds of Faith because in all of those novels Tyrande is always contrasted to Azshara, hell even last expansion Tyrande and Thalyssra had a talk about thatâŠ
Iâm not sure if it would be the best story outcome if the main goal was to instigate some sort of reunion party.
I mean, itâs not like theyâre old college friends seeing each other again.
So far as the story appears to me (and I havenât dug too deep in the spoilers), then Tyrande and the Night Elves are a bit preoccupied with reclaiming their lost lands.
And as far as Tyrande and Azshara goes, then theyâve never really been pitted against each other as sworn enemies. Itâs not Superman vs. Lex Luther or Batman vs. the Joker.
Tyrande and Azshara have a shared past, but I donât think the story demands that they have a shared future. And it doesnât seem as if the Azshara plotline revolves around a throwback to The Sundering. Rather than introducing her for the sake of referencing a lot of the old lore, it seems Azshara is being built in her own right around the current events. I quite like that. Though people on the forums tend to drool over it, I am not really fond of the fan service where old characters or locations are brought back just so the forum nerds can stroke their ego by going: âYeah, I know this reference, because Iâm oldschool!â
Seems like good storytelling with Azshara to me. Credit to Blizzard for not taking the easy route and just using her as fan service and reference to The Sundering. Story-writing boldness approved!
I dont know either, dumbfounds me too. Id have loved to see a Tyrande vs Azshara showdown again.
Ive learnt we should stop making excuses for blizzard. Busy in darkshore is not an excuse, because Azshara and stopping her is far more important, not to mention Tyrande hasnt been seen since the opening events of the battle, she isnt even in the warfront itself, and Malfurion isnt there either,
Lastly, if Jaina could be busy in kulâtiras and fight in Dazarâalor, shouldnt she be injured? Yet she can somehow be there instead of Tyra de hugging the spotlight in night elf lore stuff whe key characrers actually related too and tied into the entire Azshara and night elf story like Tyrande, Malfurion, Farondis are completely absent.
Having darkshore warfront is no excuse no matter what angleâŠperhaps if the kaldorei were anout to be wiped out and lose their holdings, perhaps, but that already happened and claiming darkshore would be irrelevant if that woman, her arch rival from the stories unleashes another other worldly invasion on the world and her people AGAIn⊠i think revenge can wait for the sort of person Tyrande is, she isnt some teenagr. Blizzard using that excuse would be very very poor⊠yet blightcaller can be i darkshore yet back in dazarâalor and at baines trial etc, but Tyra de because she ooened darkshore must somehow be rooted to it despute actually not even being there for the warfront and after
I know this may seem to make sense off the bat, but it really doesnt when you consider the other elements like Jaina being there, or blightcsller being involved with darkshore yet anle to be other places,
Also knowing what Azshara is capable off and her naga invading and killing night elves along the western kalimdor coast since classicm darkshore ownership wouldnt matter if Azshara wins, the world would be enveloped in darkness.
Tyrande staying in darkshore as an excuse over being involved with Azshara is out of character⊠if darkshore winning meant saving the lives of the night elves from a genocide, i might understand her stayi g there, but the people are already wiped out, tye place already lost, revenge or reclamation is a foolish priority over the evil that woman is unleashing again.
If blizzard are not including Tyrande because of Darkshore which THEY decided to do full well knowing Azshara was coming up and how key Tyrande iis connected to the story, then they just uavent thought their own story through properly or just have an aversion of portraui g kaldorei properly, and both of these is disappointing.
If Tyrande csnt make it, why isnt either Malfurion there, or Prince Farondis? They are also majorly connected to Azsharam yet Jaina and Thakyssra have more. Thakyssra i can understandm but Tyrande or Malfurion or Farondis should be having the level of involvement Jaina is given, Jaina should either not be there or secondary, in teaming up where she is jot the lead personality here.
Sykvanas is not in Darkshore, she is the one that heads to Nazâjatsr. Shandris isnt in dsrkshore either, she was in Zulâdazar/kilâtiras. Maldurion is jowhere to be seen in Dsrkshore either, he was there at the start, butts in to wake up some ancients, but not seen.
I keep tryong to kake excuses for them, but this was bad, favouring a human over a jight elf for Azshara⊠i mean wtf.
Nor can I in one regard, however, she could have other roles, leave Jaina to do the i teracting or Farondis or Evenshade i steadâŠevenshade portalled out of Darkshore after the horde downs his Hippogryph.
She shluld have a role and the night elves should be lead here, disappointing it isnt so.
Secondly i can see Tyrande putting aside faction war when the world is at stake, and id have loved to see the interaction between Thalyssra and Tyrande, like Tyrande saying, why did you join them ? Did yousee what they did to our kin? Thalyssra saying âwhy did you jot come for usâ, but both of them worki g together to unlock things. Could have been i teresting. They didnt need to use Lorâthemar, but even him bei g there, Tyrande is a 10k year old wise ancient, i dont think she would be in character trying to assassinate Lorâthemar there and then in the heart of Azsharaâs realm with the wolrd enveloping enemies of the light waiting to break fred in her races ancient birthplace and site of first contact with Elune.
They could have eaisly made Tyra de work, and should have made an effort.
And it is always welcome, even though in this case i had a few comments that i felt needed to be said and didnt agree with you, i always appreciate you sharing your thipiughts. Its interesting because i thought of those same reaosns when trying to understand why Tyrande was t there, but concluded guven who was involved (Azshara) and where (ZinâAzshari) and considering they could make Jai a work, Tyrande could have and should have been there, it is not the first time theyve cut her out of super meani gful and relevant stuff to her race and not properly taken jnto account the co text and consequences of some of the events theyve engineered and what they would actually mean to her, her order or her peopleâŠtake her absence i 7.2 in the broken shore and her goddesses main temple, or the mi imalist role in Suramar her own city? Made worse when they reveal they had her at the centre of the story dor the broekn shore, but changed it to give the class orders an active role, yet didnt make the time to relevantly weave her in alongside them⊠especially after earlier in 7.0 havi g her claim to ditch âher liveâ their story had her whine pining for because of her obligation to her goddess and her lands, off she goes to fight Ysera at a ruined minor temple, yet the biggest one of all and her orders headquarters, she is absent, we have illlidan, maiev (for the upper levels) and khadgar, who again i didnt begrudge being there, though why a night elf mage couldnt have had the job and Tyrande not being there to interact with Illidan or Dejana etcâŠwas a amajor let down again
You know the Night Elf lore way more than I do Kalibas.
But from what I have seen this isnât a expedition to go kill Azshara.
This is why I said if properly done, this should had been a Old God expansion.
With proper planning from both sides, including Tyrande and Malfurion.
Because there is a war going on Tyrande went to Darkshore to fight.
Had she stayed in Stormwind things would had been much different.
Spoiler data mining reveal that, Sylvanas sends what remains of her remaining fleet to an expedition and the Alliances go after, with Jaina as The leader.
Than Azshara sets her trap.
It seems the all encounter wasnât planned by either faction.
Also it seems there is interactions between Alliance characters and Horde characters after Azshara.
Had Tyrande been there I donât think that would go very well.
Jaina Has something to thank Baine, while Tyrande donât, much the opposite.
She probably is in the same state as when Jaina Lost Theramore.
Remember Garrosh in MoP ?
He was a raid boss but at the end it was Thrall who killed him, not the pc.
None guarantee this time it will not happen a similar situation that Azshara survives to be killed later on by Tyrande in the next expansion.
Cheers.
So yes, i defintiely do, but also the writers, they form the narrative, they knew what was coming, and as creatives, they can create ameaningful and relevant place for a character like Tyrande who should be there.
Players know the situation much grester calamity is at stake, the night elves have already been wiped out, how can she choose revenge and reclamation when a greater threat which if it succeeds, clain8ng back darkshire wouldnt matter at all.,spa character such as hers would know that, and as a creative you can find ways to let people know why this is kore important than revenge or ckaiming back lands.
As people woukd wonder why she isnt there, but as Haiete she should have had a role, even if it is u covering Azshara and her old god masters are behind Sulvanasâactions⊠tyrsnde could have locked in to Sykvanas, and led to nazâjatar thst way, uncovered Azsharaz plot, giving her 2 elves responsible for wiling out her kin to deal wifhâŠnow thst would have been an intersting jam to get out ofâŠ
I can thing of several things they could have done, but leaving her out seems like disregsrd and something they have total control over
In your opinion.
I find the story angle rather fresh and intriguing. The notion that itâs bad story writing just because it doesnât match up with some peopleâs pre-concieved expectations that past and future should meet, seems a bit silly.
This is the only saving grace, and why i am not quitting (temporarily ofc) in resignation or protest, if, and a big IF, that is not the end of Azshara, and the likes of Tyande, Malfruin, Farondis etc have a major role to play later, then this is fine, and time will exonerate the writers.
But i have hoped in vain before for such things and never seen them later, so im not holding my breadth, they are notorious for forgetting relevant earlier stuff, or selectively ignoring it. Theyâve done it so many times - take the absence of the orcs against the legion, or even the darnassians actively involved in the psuh to Argus against the legion which is their arch enemy - you mean only Illidan but non of those night elves whove been forced to live in wilderness and change their lives completely all to stop this evil force that returns anwyay 10k years later and they have to sacrifice more again, you mean they are not their alongside the draenei and Illidan they now have to admit they wrongfully labelled betrayer making for another juicy follow upâŠ,but no, ansolutely mothingâŠim like for real blizz? We have been waiting for this stuff like this and nothingâŠ,i mean who writes this stuff? Not that the Turalyon story was bad, it wasnât, but room shoulda been made for these guys tĂČo.,failure is a again ignoring night elves in matters that are chiefly related to them.
I expectantly hooed for and made IF topics thinking theyâd include it at the end, they know their storyâŠbut no they didnt. Undermining ALL of the night elf lore and the race, only to do it again in 8.2, but somehow give the War of thorns showing us thst night elves purpose is not for a good story or giving closure on themes etc, but to generate shock factor and drama by givjng them a 3rd massive war,and a second genocide, which was still jowhere near as bad as the first (which suggest the impact of the legions defeat should still play massive role that should be told because of uts level of importancel and if the legion and sunderi g didnt turn them into foolish vengefipul idiots, the war of throns wouldnt, meanwhile rubbishing (ok that term is exaggerated, lets say severly munimising or trivialising) the entire basis of their last 10k years by failing to make them relevant alongside the dranei for the legionâs conclusion.
Indeed, but has anyone thought about the fact that there are no horde leaders there anymore? There is literally no one capable of stopping people like Tyrande,Malfurion,Maiev, and Jarod. Blizzard donât want to give a solution or ending to the warfronts that soon which is cool, but also acquainting people like Sira to able to hold off some of the most powerful mortals on the planet is a joke, I wonât even stress on the fact that the Horde army is scattered and they suffered grievous losses. Just end this disgusting faction war blizzard.
Pre-concieved in your opinion.
All the Novels and lore ââEstablishedââ the contrast between Tyrande and Azshara, the only prominent figure there is Shandris (and she is awesome) but it is a huge waste and spit in the face to the work they had done.
As for the story being fresh, yeah sure, I myself enjoyed the quests and Datamined text,it looks amazing, but it is missing a main ingredient.
