Enh Shaman (and even Ele tbh) has gone pretty nuts in the last couple of years with non-passive abilities. I really like Shaman but this was enough to put me off.
I can play all 3 warlock specs with ease so this isn’t about needing a faceroll spec either, but Shaman really needs some of those nodes changed into passives. Pretty happy on BM Hunter right now though, it feels a lot better to play since it is nice and easy on the hands.
Don’t feel bad, this isn’t limited to WoW when people just comment to bring you down. It is a phenomenon in every MMO, even from 2 decades ago.
I used to play Tibia, and people would suggest in their forums stuff that would have been a tremendous quality of life.
Players are more into being Crabs in a Bucket in MMOs. “You’re not allowed to less miserable than me, you need to suffer like the rest of us and wear it like a badge of honor”
I wish i had more buttons on demon hunter, heck why i like to play classes with many buttons, the more the better, why would i want less buttons?
You have plenty of key combinations on keyboard and standard 4-5 button mouse to use all abilities skills and macros you need.
F1-F6
1-6
~ Z X C V F G Q E R
SHIFT+X SHIFT+C SHIFT+D SHIFT+E SHIFT+R
M4 M5 M6 if you have 5+ button mouse.
Alt+1 - alt+4
Shift+3 - shift+5
And just macro that sit key or rebind it to F7-F12 Home Pageup Pagedown keys.
You want all your skills rotation etc you actively need to be able to easy to use on easy to reach keys.
Mobility spells on mouse because it just makes healing easier, anyway each their own preference, if you have many alts you want to least put skills on similar keys as much as possible.
Anyway to much bloat i disagree you can easily play wow without a MMO mouse and regular keyboard, alto it will probably be better with a multi button mouse.
If still to many skills, you can always play the Demon hunter, probably worst class in the game if you like pressing buttons, wish they reworked DH and gave it one more talent spec honestly, at least one more dps spec maybe support dps.

That’s 40+ abilities mandatory for PvE and for PvP. As you see, I have not included Flasks, Food buffs, Runes, Hearthstones, some toys that help with pointing stuff on the floor, some other utility toys like Mailbox and Warbank, Fishing/Archaeology gathering, chat macros, and the absolute best item in the game: https://www.wowhead.com/item=23587/mirrens-drinking-hat
Quite some abilities in here are situational; talents. I doubt a lot of Shamans walk around with the entire arsenal, if it’s even possible at the same time? (I didn’t check the talents required, I have to admit). I personally don’t at least.
Besides, the Weapon-enhancements are so rarely used that it’s perfectly fine to not-bind. Same with Skyfury really.
There’s also no need to have Ancestral Spirit and Ancestral Vision. The Vision works fine for single targets too? Same cast time and same HP granted.
My Holy Priest setup for doing Epic Battlegrounds has, and I just counted, 33 class abilities, 1 racial, 3 PvP Talents, and 2 trinkets. So that’s 37 abilities in total. And I use ALL of them. And I have thrown Resurrection and Mass Resurrection and Heal and Mind Soothe off my bars, because I never use those. If I included them, I would easily have 40+ abilities. Even my talents are set up so I mostly err toward passives.
Holy Priest has an absolute silly amount of buttons. And that’s before any macros or potions or whatever.
Oh yeah, I’m absolutely not denying that specs have many buttons. Too many even. But that example was a slight stretch:).
Anyways, I thought that they aimed to do something against the button bloat. Either they missed some specs, or they forgot about that goal in the process.
I found that the mass res spells only work if the targets are in your party/raid. To res random corpses in the world I still had to use the single target spell. If they’ve changed it then great, I can finally get rid of my macros that switch between them.
To me the Beta for TWW was very short and notably lacking in class changes. Blizzard usually gets around to doing several passes for most classes and specs. But that was definitely not the case this time. A lot of the development effort seemed to go into getting Hero Talents out the door (and some of those added an extra button here and there!).
Priest is pretty much similar to how it was in Dragonflight. Discipline got the biggest changes, but not to the degree needed. Holy and Shadow are 90% like they were in Dragonflight, and they would be well-served with having fewer buttons in their default playstyle.
But I think that’s endemic of many classes and specs, and again, it feels like Blizzard has more work piled up than they can effectively manage. Class design, especially button bloat, suffers as a consequence.
One generator, one spender. Maybe a Big Spender. One AoE, one defensive and a utility for fun. That’s definetely enough. Six buttons, perfect for consoles. Now, where did I see that before… /s
On the other hand, be thankful you don’t have to fit into 6 buttons. What would you do then, if you could select only 6 of all your abilities…?
Honestly, a game like Heroes of the Storm where a Hero has like 4-6 abilities gets way more depth out of them than the Class equivalent in World of Warcraft. See for example Jaina in Heroes of the Storm versus a Frost Mage in World of Warcraft.
And that’s the same with DOTA2 and LoL and so forth. They have fewer buttons, but those buttons revolve more around decision-making and precision and aim. In World of Warcraft the buttons are like keys on a piano. There are lots of them and for the most part you just have to press them in the right order. And the better you are at “playing the piano” the better you perform in World of Warcraft. But that’s not real gameplay depth, it’s a pseudo sort of approach to it, like playing Guitar Hero.
i’d unbind earthliving weapon and tidecaller and get a weakaura that flashes on your screen when they’re down or 3 min left in duration.
saves you 2 binds.
but yeah resto shaman keybind bloat esp in pvp is so ridiculous its crazy. you’re not even using focus hex, focus kick, focus purge and you need to bind the interact key if you’re doing blitz to click flags faster.
on my rsham i’m up to 57 keybinds and even then i click bloodlust, mount, waterwalking and earthliving wep.
meanwhile on my war i have about 20 keybinds to spare and have random toys keybound, dismounter gun, battle standard etc.
This is why I love my DH. I have about 15 and that is perfect as a lot are on long cooldowns or either/or type abilities and defensives that I barely use
Binding all totems aside from the electro-stun and speed aura one is wild, it’s like if i was binding all my demons separately. And why do you need on bind weapon enchants
Im glad im warrior🤣
But idk about heroism or stuff like that needs to be binded to a key. You can have them on a bar but no need to have specofic button for it. Or stuff you rarley use or maybe use once in the start of the dungeon.
Idk bout shamans but im using macros with the trinket im using. For warriors we use trinket+reck so we only use 1 button instead of 2 etc.
