Why you play as Shaman if you dont find it suitable to you?
Or just use half the buttons as you play right now. Just the main ones.
I know what you talking about.
I tried Demon Hunter and Warlock before. I want to play them but I dont like their rotations.
Demon Hunter is easy for many, but I dont find a fotation which is for me.
Maybe I havent played DH as long as I have to learn its abilities.
Now Im stuck with Ret Pala, MM Huntard, Rogues for PvP and Shadow Priest for PvE.
That is of course a difficult question when you play your character for 10 years and blizz keeps adding buttons.
What? ![]()
Dont be a maximalist ![]()
Use just the most important abilities.
I played GW2 during a recent WoW breat and gotta admit I missed all the buttons in WoW.
You can definitely mix some abilities together. All big cds tends to match in term of cooldown time, so it’s easier to get a big bang macro for them.
Defensive is different as you tend to avoid overlapping them, that’s why a healer will usually have more than any other classes (in pve).
Pvp adds focus macros and other small things but it’s not the end of the world.
40+ is definitely a reach, but I would tend to have most of my totem with a keybind due to the potential need following the encounter you are in.
BL is definitely a thing I want to bind, it’s the kind of thing you don’t want to clic ![]()
There are also a lot of possibility with modifier macros to reduce keybind bloat on your bars.
I use vuhdo for my healers (and on dps I’ll use it as well for offhealing/dispel/blessings/rez and such) and that clears out the action bars quite a bit. Can recommend ![]()
But then my enha shammy stillllll has a lot. Man. Lol.
This is probably the main reason for the spell bloat. Then blizz tried to bind new effects to spells and people complained about not having enough control over it, and wanting to trigger them separately.
cuz crybabies stuck doing lowdog keys and hraid complained abt classes being too simple despite their inability to not stand in big red circles
I avoid classes, which have more than 7 to 8 buttons to press to go through a rotation.
Hense why I stick to Ret Paladin, Demolock and now enjoying this outlaw rogue, as it’s very short in terms of buttons.
News flash !!!
You dont need to bind and/or use all your buttons. ![]()
So 40 buttons turns in 5 to 10 keybinds and a bunch of icons you click or directly ignore and don’t even have in your bars…
Its good question, most classes have enormous number of buttons in wow. I guess they have been adding things to the game and forgot they could bake abilities together and simply get rid of some aswell.
Warlock for one doesnt need three separate abilities to make either 20% melee atk spd or 10% cast spd or 50% movement spd as curses and buttons to bind. Ive been wondering it years why they dont bake something as this together. I already bake alot abilities together on almost all classes in macros. Both my warlocks and rsham must have the most binds I guess, frostmage is pretty ridiculous on button bloat too but wlocks and rsham is something else, must be over 80 keybinds with 12 thumb buttons counted aswell with shift, alt, ctrl modifiers and then pet classes with pet commands and pet micro management on top of that
Holy Priest got a bit better. At some point in DF and earlier they had an active that made their next Holy Fire’s cast instant and free. In WW that functionality is now baked into Holy Word Chastise, so one less button to press for the Holy DPS rotation. It’s basically now SW:P → Chastice → Holy Fire x3 → Smite so not too bad.
The hero talents also made the button bloat a bit better, because now with Archon Halo goes from a fairly weak spell to a big CD. In general, I don’t mind HPriest buttons now for PvE, and if anything, I wouldn’t mind Greater Heal back from PvP talents. The HPriest fantasy to me is the ultimate healer and having a significantly big heal like Greater Heal would be very nice.
Dh also feels really good and and demo playes great i just dont like the whole father demons and then summon tyrant playstyle thats a button i would like to lose
That’s not the reason… class to class its sucks aswell lol as a MM bursting phase its 2 buttons… Other than the one button Arcane spam in wrath not sure a class has it easier… then we have a DH built around eye beams once on CD meh.
We got rid of the bloat then they added it back to make it look moar for no real reason. Same for the talent trees from pick 1 in a line to back to the trees with boring %'s lol… its all just Illusion of more things when really there aren’t.
I still have my DH, which I haven’t played for a while. I guess I could blow off the dust and have a play around with it, once I get this rogue to 80.
Been taking my sweet time, getting the legion title & mount.
Downside is its Horde on the main Alliance server. Well back when I made it, it was a server, which was the best 50/50 split of Horde & Alliance xD
This is actually how most people seem to be irl too, at least in my country.
Yes, 40.
I can’t speak for Shaman since I don’t play it, but here’s Frost Mage:
Ice Lance
Frostbolt
Glacial Spike
Flurry
Comet Storm
Counterspell
Blink
Invisibility
Cone of Cold
Frost Nova
Water Elemental
→ Freeze
→ Water Jet (usually autocast, but technically)
Mass Barrier
Ice Barrier
Ice Block
Frozen Orb
Blizzard
Cold Snap
Ice Floes
Trinket
Slowfall
Supernova
Blast Wave
Shifting Power
Polymorph
Ray of Frost
Racial
Spellsteal
Remove Curse
Alter Time
Mirror Image
Ice Nova
Trinket 2
Health Potion
Healthstone
DPS potion
Timewarp
Arcane Intellect (sometimes there’s a rez so you want it on a bind)
And then comes the focus target and mouseover stuff as well.
So… yes, around 40. ![]()
And I even skipped over a few. If you add Frost Bomb (PvP talent), Arcane Explosion (rarely bound, useful in PvP sometimes), and Fire Blast (not useful) that brings us to 42.
EDIT: And there are 25 relevant cooldowns on my “cooldowns bar” that I keep an eye on.
Lets see how the DH is like, since I last played it ![]()
Outlaw has one of the highest APM counts in the game though (without counting defensives etc). Have fun with your wrists after a key. It not having many buttons is a deception. Not to mention how its rotation works in general with their procs.
Its rare for warlocks to cast their slow in a grp to begin with since so many specs have a slow baked into their default kit. And the atk/cast speed one depends on whether you have a rogue in your grp and whether the rogue runs mind or atrophic-poison.
