Archeology was kind of left behind because they wanted to do something more with it, but they cannot come up with some cool ideas. They have acknowledged that and said that they want to work on it to do it justice.
Glyph system was scraped cause they found that it did not serve a purpose. All major glyphs that affected performance were a non brainer, people just went and googled the best ones and called it a day.
The minor glyphs that were the interesting ones are still in the game, since those are collectibles that alter your char’s appearance.
Yeah, they still are that. The only change they did was remove the interface (and thus the limitation to how many you could equip), and made them usable on your spell book.
They have not yet removed that aspect and they are still adding glyphs that alter the appearance of certain spells. Although I hope they expand the system and add more choices.
Would kind of like spec skins that just make your abilities follow another variation of your class fantasy. I.e. shadowflame warlock, spacevoid paladin, windblessed warrior (asian style), tinkerer hunter, and so on and so forth. Ofc it would need to be disabled in arena, but I mean… Who cares? People only see addons and castbars there anyway
I think it was a huge mistake not including archeology this expansion.
You have the Dragonscale Expedition who are a faction literally dedicated to archeology! Not to mention the whole expansion centres around discovery and exploring…
archeology should of been a major theme with factions, rewards, quests, etc. Kinda like cooking had in MoP.
it’s a shame they don’t have a lot more glyphs for more customization of spells. Mind, the ones they do have are not all working properly. my shadowfeind is stuck as a lightspawn and i still cant change it. reported this issues months ago still nothing.
Hopefully they will add more for aesthetics in the future.
They didn’t remove them entirely when warlocks got our new pet customization, and that gives me hope that they might add more at some point.
I would like to see inscription used to copy/translate tomes, scrolls, wall and chest writing/decorations, found or discovered while open world adventuring.
The skill could be levelled initially by trainer, then questlines, copying, translation attempts and finding items for study.
Copies/Translations could be account bound for alts w/o inscription to use in archaeology.
(There could be limited AH sales, but knowing players, they would rush content, bot and kill the profession fun in minutes).
Archaeology skill level could gradually allow increased understanding of translated items, to unlock old appearances, various account wide old recipes for all professions, a golem assistant, illusion effects and toy schematics.
Both these professions could also unlock customisable ‘study’ areas with an optional assistant each.
Still hoping that evoker will one day get glyphs that let their spells look like they’re associated with another Flight. I want all bronze or green spells!
There’s a lot that can be done with it.
And with an expansion about discovering the past being present, it’s still weird that no archaeology came out with it.
