My headcannon is that the worgen require’s constant supression in order to stay in human form.
During combat you arent supressing your inner worgen because you are fighting for your life.
In theory if you could keep your worgen suppress during combat you might be able to fight as human but i woudnt be easy.
The only time i recall greymane fighting in human form was when he didnt feel threaten and was playing with sylvanas boy toy naranos during legion.
I agree, it really ruined the narrative a lead to them just being furry humans.
They should have been the loose cannons of the Alliance, instead they got forgotten about for a decade.
At the start of Cata, people would bug out the starting zone and force the game to send them to Westfall’s GY, all of this before getting the Worgen form, making them Human druids.
But ironically, we now have Human druids. So, all of those macros which made a player shift into human form when leaving cat form are quite pointless now.
There should be a questline that provides you with a cure that allows you to stay in human form. Krenan Aranas could show up again. Or at least let it toggle itself off when you leave combat, even npcs in Darkshore can do that.
I think it would be cool if there was some kind of “rage meter” to build up to an inevitable form change… players could still do it manually, but sometimes it would happen automatically. Maybe add a subtle screen effect too as the character’s rage builds, although that might get annoying; I could see this being a hidden gauge too, though it might seem a bit too random to the player then… maybe it resets when out of combat, so you’d only see it trigger if you’re in combat for a long time or near death, etc.
Definitely not something that’s a hard game mechanic, more a cosmetic thing.
