Why would anyone bother healing

I’ve been playing healers since rolling a Shaman as my second character in Vanilla, I’ve played every healing class in multiple expansions, I don’t mind challenging content to heal, but the behavior of other players is driving me away from the role.

Tried to do some timewalking classic dungeons with a 72 Evoker smooth run of Dire Maul, stick with 3 of the group (Me, Tank and 1 DPS) then get a Deadmines, all going ok till Sneeds Shredder and people, as usual, just charge in and get feared into every mob in sight.

We wipe, and naturally it’s the Healer’s fault and get kicked - no one used any defensives - but yes it’s still the healers fault

In future any group I’m kicked from all go straight on the ignore list

I don’t have this problem in Classic HC, but I remind people to watch my mana before pulling packs. I do since have mana pots, but it has CD’s and therefore limits so uh. No blamesies if you die pulling 3 packs and I run the other way at 0 mana :eyes:

Best get an add-on for all the folks you’re about to ignore.

set your boundaries at the start. i just had a run of timewalking dungeons and the tank literally said he was new and asked us to take it slow. no big deal, really.

I don´t tank or Heal for randoms since IIRC late BfA and haven´t looked back, for exactly the reasons described… Not gonna spend my time baybsitting 5 Muppetsteins who can´t even be arsed to use defensivees or kick but always know everything everyone else could be doing better.

These days I won´t even queue as a DD for anything above LFR /Timewalking /Heroic, and even that only at 3AM when everyone else is asleep.

I truly feel sorry for anybody who has to play this game alone, expecially in M+ where everyone with a rating of 101 suddenly thinks he´s Gingi´s long lost twin brother and everyone else is just a useless scrub they have to endure to get loot. So I much prefer to let them endure other players like themselves and spend my time with frieds or in delves.

I’ll be honest, between tanking, dpsing and healing, healing has always been the playstyle I’ve avoided if I could, even it was something often kept being thrust upon me during vanilla and TBC.

I think the first time I actually enjoyed healing was with a resto shaman in WotLK (Riptide <3), and that expanded my horizons, and I kept having a healer character troughout the following expansions, even if it was never my main.

Then Legion happened and while I can’t put my finger on it, I’ve never had a proper healer character ever since. Both this Paladin and my Enhance Shaman have healing gear (as in, int-trinkets and int-shields/weapons), but I don’t think I’ll ever put them to use. Healing in TWW just seems to incredibly painful, and I’m not much for self-harm…
It doesn’t help that more dps:ers than ever are less aware of that defensive CDs exist and that standing in fire = bad…

It would also seem that I’m far from the only one who thinks this, as it’s never a shortage of tanks that prevent ques from popping anymore, but a shortage of healers.

TLDR: TWW Healers have my deepest respect, as the role probably hasn’t been as unfun as it currently is in a long time, if ever.

On the contrary of your experiences i decided to start healing m+ on my sham(haven’t healed since forever)
Oh boy it is for sure the hardest role in a group, keeping everyone up,dpsing, interrupting,cc’ing, doing mechs, what else i forget.
I just want you to know you are our everyday heroes, don’t lose heart because of bads.

For me healing the the easiest role.

Tanking is stressful. You need to lead the group, you need to know the routes, you need to know the tactics.

DPS is hard. You need to pump big numbers all while kicking and stunning things. And you have very little means to survive. I never was good at pumping big numbers, my logs are always gray and below tank, I don’t like it.

Healer just follows tank, no need to know routes, no need to kick or stun things, no need to pump big numbers. You just fill bars and that’s about it. Tactics rarely matters, 99% of time it’s obvious what to do.

I like it.

The only other spec I liked is Augmentation Evoker. It’s even better, but I’ve found many issues joining a groups, people don’t want to accept evokers into their groups, and visuals are not stunning, so ultimately I decided against it. But it’s viable choice for me.

I never do timewalking dungeons until my character is max level .the scailing is pretty bad for timewalking dungeons .so do yourself a favor and dont do them before you reach lvl 80 .

“healer???” :joy:

I was levelling a tank. I pulled Snead once with loads of trash. Never again. I learned the first time. It’s not your fault. Just the idiot pulling them. They probably wiped again until learning

I had to install a WA for random pugs in m+ when healing so it alerts the pug tank as they were doing the same to me  it goes off when I’m 24% mana and tells /p

Healing in general is much more enjoyable once you’re not running content full of silly people.

Most of the times i leave a dungeon i keep asking myself this very question to. What is wrong with me, do i suffer from some sort of masochism?

you have 10+ years healing experience and you do such post ?

its expected from you to THINK for your dumb group.
especially in timewalking dungeons with broken scalling and green geared tanks

pop BL, send absorb orb, rewind + aoe def + emmerald communion.
shredder is donzo

i leveled my evoker as and throw away alt (cause drake form look uber stupid never gona play it)
and even i know people do the worst pulls possible

/e u know u can fly away with your dumb tank from shredder whirlwind ?
right ?
vanilla wow this way →

There was a guy recently who was healing and getting abuse, and the rest of the group all were talking about kicking him, so the guy (the healer) initiated a kick for the tank instead and put in the reason for kicking “bad healer”. And the tank got kicked instead because they didn’t bother to look at the name of the person they were kicking.

Kinda funny. More healers need to do that when the tank and other DPS start acting up and blaming heals.

People click report on those in pvp, I would suggest not have macro/aura/details announce anything in chat if you play shuffle or blitz. Especially as healer which get all the heat. Its not a good idea have those or speak much in general in game anymore. Good luck :dracthyr_a1:

Currently tanking and healing are miserable. The changes were awful and missed all stated goals.
Dragonflight was way more fun.

This is what happens when you listen to bad players that cry after getting carried by good tank players. Now the whole thing is miserable for everyone. Bravo!

I always keep an eye on my healer’s mana as tank.
And anyone who pulls by themselves because I and the healer are waiting…
Good luck :dracthyr_hehe_animated:
