Jack of all trades, master of………………… fun! Variety is the spice of life.
A jack of all trades is a master of none, but ultimately more useful.
your words though
All my max level alts are also Ret Paladins, on the other hand I don’t gear them, they are purely there to give profession support to my main ![]()
I do think it’s great for people who enjoy different classes but it’s just not for me.
Meanwhile I play alts so I can Roleplay multiple characters

As someone that mainly plays holy priest and alts prot paladin(and ret sometimes) & occassionally dip into fera(lol)l/balance(I don’t like them that much any more with what they’ve done to the spec)/guardian(but unlikely I’ll ever play it for a decent amount of time because it actually hurts my hands to play it) druid - wut.
All the specs I like the most are in the gutter.
I actually think the system is better for players who don’t have enough time to play than the ones that do, because if you don’t have the time to invest how far are you going to get anyway? probably not keeping up with others that do.
Alts can be geared up, rewarded and maintained with a few/several hours of play in one day. For example, I’ve kept my warrior at max conquest cap and I play him 3 to 5 hours a week. Bloody coins literally take one quest to cap out for the whole week. I do the sparks Q, loot some war chests while doing it that drop in, pop a few BG’s, get the weekly bonus Q’s from that and I’m done.
But like I said, if you enjoy what you’re doing, then keep doing it. The game stays fresh though when you mix things up because it almost feel like you’re playing an entirely new game with an alt and honestly, the rotations of abilities aren’t that complicated on any class, so stagnation and repetition of using these same abilities over and over again and doing nothing else, can eventually get old/boring.
But when you spread your time playing multiple alts, you always enjoy going back to your favorite class(es).
Ooh I like the sound of that, master of fun! One gotta do what one gotta do to keep things interesting ![]()

Id much prefer to have one character where I can just pick any of 3 trees
Well, I want to main a class, but I haven’t decided yet which one yet
I did my m+ journey on a prot warrior so far, but I don’t think I want to main this spec in the long run.
The most fun spec I’ve played is fire mage, but I don’t want to go through the dps waiting simulator experience
Actually everybody in this thead is right. It all depends what you like.
Play one toon and gear up to the max.
Do professions and dont care about gear.
Play one toon and fool around.
Play multiple toons and fool around.
Stay in Dorgonal and parade your mounts.
As long as you are having fun, you win. ![]()
Aye main thing is to have fun and do whatever they want with their game they bought lol
omg, that’s me!
And here’s me with a small army of MoP remix alts slowly going from 70 to 80, with a core 4 ‘main alts’ for different things, although to be fair the ret pally does most of the heavy lifting.
This is the first expansion where I’ve leveled a main and 3 additional alts even before the first season started. Alts were usually an end of expansion thing for me - with the exception of Legion where I leveled alts of different classes for their unique campaigns and whatnot.
I don’t actively play many alts though. I’m still focussing on my main for the most part, but this alt gets a fair bit of attention. When he’s geared enough, I’ll gear another alt. I don’t want to spend too much time on it. I don’t play WoW for nearly as many hours as I used to.
I’ve not really enjoyed Alts since Legion with class orders and mounts. Plus Invasions were fast leveling.
In BFA I did level one of each faction to see the two stories. And I a coupld of alts eventually (Benthic gear was good enough catch up system for me).
Eventually in SL I had alts in each covenant but that was much later. Early on there weren’t enough skips and the Maw was horrible.
DF didn’t have enough side quests either. I had two characters leveled in DF early on.
On rails campaigns with few side quests put me off levelign alts.
I’m not running M+ etc so I don’t need Fotm classes for groups.
I just want to see the story and scrape together what ever gear I can get without selling my soul to Chore-god Events.
I’m still not max level yet (was away for all of Sept.) and am in no rush to get there and begin the events.
So when I say I’m struggling with alts, I think I might also be struggling with a main…
