Hello there, it wasn’t too long ago that I came from the classical era to the current era. And I have a question: why do European players use the tactic “who can take the towers at the enemy’s base faster”?
Preface: in TBC EU players complained about us that the Russians play prims. As a Russian, I can answer: thats not true, we did not play prims. We are not strong in tactics, we are poorly organized, but we UTTERLY like to break faces in the center of the map at the beginning of the round. Personally, I did’t understand why Europeans want to get to our base so badly, and some of them just leave the game when they see us.
And so I bought a dragonfly. I get caught with EU players most of the time in my team (actually 95% of em), and I don’t understand the beauty of this tactic. Why doy you play BG if you have to stand on the base 90% of the time and not fight the enemy? What’s the point, where’s the fun in it? I’m serious, I can’t get it, can you please explain it to me? O.o
The point is faster honor / conquest reward per hour for winning or loosing. Epic BGs are often used to ramp up fast honorpoints and get gear quickly.
Actual pvp happens in Arena / normal BGs, but one is a pillar hugging simulator and the other plagued by premades making it unplayable for solo players. So people like us who enjoy Epic BG actual pvp get stuck with players who do them because they have to. Not because they want to.
Another factor: Turtle AVs ( aka slow long grind) are not fun for everyone (especially if you are melee), so many just want to win or loose ASAP.
Fighting in the middle is considered negative and not following map objectives. If you mainly want to “break faces” you wil lose the bg. Epic bgs are mostly used to farm honor/conquest. Well, all bgs actually, but epic mostly because they are easy. And you cant get conquest if you lose. EU players are objective-centered. I know there is a difference in mindset between EU and ru players.
EU players tend to leave the bg when they see purely RU teams because they either think it’s a premade (although this thinking happens more rarely now, as they indeed see you play poorly). But also because of you not playing the way we play. We want both teams to chase objectives, so to have fun. The breaking of faces happens then. For example when we stand on horde towers in AV, horde comes back to reclaim it and then the pew-pew begins.
Or when we are gathering ingredients for the cooking brawl but the horde occupies our base entrance and doesn’t let us pass to it. Hope now you understand our logic
Hmm, okay. You fight for fast honor. For me honor points is a nice addition to a glorious battle and bloodbath) No matter win or loose. Is orc my spirit animal?
Basically thats a winning tactic, yes, it takes a long time, but it still works.
Orc is not an animal, it’s a race…Maybe a bear is your spirit animal…
I don’t see how only fighting in the middle or only going for kills and not objectives, is a winning tactic. Meanwhile we will take all towers and kill the boss.
I don’t know abour Alterac, but I know weird.
And all my latest Alterac was throwing Alliance back in their base and farming them on the bridge until they are out of reinforcements. It’s weird and feels great
