Will BfA become free with the pre-patch?

Hello again,

since the pre-patch release date has been published, do we have any confirmed news on BfA becoming “free” (or part-of-the-base-game)? It is a deal breaker for me, I want to level up my characters using the new Chromie thing; however, it requires players to have leveled up through the regular BfA content. Therefore, without having BfA, there is probably no way to access Chromie. Maybe I got this wrong, but I would like to pre-purchase Shadowlands - which is impossible without having BfA.

Thanks! Would be nice if Blizzard could address this. I think that many people like me would invest in Shadowlands right away if it weren’t for the BfA requirement.

I heartily agree with this.

In fact, now that the prepatch date is set for two weeks from now, I think they should bundle BfA with the base game NOW. What sense does it make to hold back subs and Shadowlands sales when nobody in their right mind would buy BfA today?

Everybody believes BfA will get rolled in at pre-patch, but without an announcement, nothing is conformed.

However, even if you got BfA free today, I am not certain that you would not have to level your first through BfA anyhow when Chromie comes active. I do not know of a formal statement of what characteristics are needed to be able to choose an expansion to level in.

I totally agree with this, but as you said there’s not an announcement about this yet. Hope they make the right decision and include BFA to base game in the pre-patch as they used to do with all the expansions before, including BFA pre-patch. I am planning as well to start playing as the pre-patch hits.

“The Battle for Azeroth pre-patch is here, and with this update we’re making some exciting changes to the way players access to World of Warcraft. Starting today, new players can gain access to all World of Warcraft content up through and including the Legion expansion simply by becoming a subscriber—you no longer need to purchase the original World of Warcraft base game. In addition, all existing World of Warcraft subscribers have automatically been upgraded to Legion at no additional cost.”

Good, glad to hear that. Thanks for the replies.

I think it makes the most sense. Well played, Blizzard.
