As we all know wotlk is being launched for Phase 1 with 3.3.5 balance -obviously this was not the case during live.
This has opened up the door for some interesting specs to do really well with P1 gear, that was not possible during live.
Regarding DK, on live the class was crazy unbalanced in both PvE and PvP which led to more than one ‘balance’ rounds until settling on 3.3.5 balance.
3.3.5 balance has Unholy Dual Wield spec -Troll specifically- as king of the DPS hill in 25 man raids during P1 and most likely all the way to last phase -except for those who get the legendary 2H axe. The gap is hundreds of DPS more over say 2H -and probably over most classes.
Come live, you will see UH-DW in 25 man with x2 specs, one for trash with Corps Explosion and one for boss without.
Because the spec will be pumping so much more than anything else, I was wondering if Blizz would make adjustments? Reason being, it is a spec that ignores FU Ability (Scourge Strike) and uses Area of Effect abilities on single target -every other build/spec/class needs to chose between the two.
Wasn’t there a blue post/press release where they say they may look at DKs if they are proving an issue?
With that said WoW Classic had raids with 20~ warriors and they did nothing, so I wouldn’t exactly bet on any changes. Having for instance 25% of people play Paladins (on the Fresh servers anyway, don’t know if established servers are seeing class swaps) doesn’t seem very sensible - but we all know they are best class, why would Blizzard want to upset a quarter of their playerbase by nerfing them/buffing their rivals?
