Do you think this would ever happen would it not be great to change colours of items etc?
I imagine this would take transmoggs and style to another level.

Considering gear colour variants shows the difficulty level they’re from or from PvP, no.
Doubt it will ever happen since putting different colour variations into the various hamster wheels is an easy and important way to keep us subscribed and playing.
Ok what if they only let you do it on gear that what you just said does not apply to ?
I love the dye system in gw2 but i doubt we’ll ever see that in wow sadly.
No they won’t, Blizzard’s idea of content these days is the exact same gear from 13 years ago with a fresh coat of paint. I still think WoW is the laziest MMO out there and they’ll never give up that spot while they can do a full cycle of recolours and call it a .5 patch.
I’d love it if they did, but I don’t think they will. I have so many items that would work well as mix-and-match outfits, except that the shade is just slightly off.
I think maybe certain gear could be dyeable as a gimmick but that’d be the most
I usually back these things up as I would love them, but this is the only instance where I think it wouldn’t be a good idea. I’ll try to explain myself, it’s a matter of painting techniques (I do paint too, that’s why I think this way):
Therefore I wouldn’t like dyes, but this doesn’t necessarily mean it would be the only option. Take dragon mounts of this expansion as an example: they are customizable in color. Perhaps a similar system could be added in some cases!
An SW:ToR like dyeing and colour synchronizing would be awesome
WoW will NEVER do that - the engine simply not capable to do it, those horrible 2 pixel detail armours are not compatible with such sophisticated QoL feature every other game have
Other games allow you to do it, why can’t Blizzard.
To reiterate what’s been said in every, other single thread:
Nobody cares whether you got a piece from LFR, normal, heroic or Mythic, or bought it of the AH. People want to create looks that suit them, not everyone else.
This is Blizzard. Their idea of player retention is to have people run all difficulties if they want all variants for months. I’d have preferred it had doing higher difficulties unlocked all lower difficulty variants.
Dying needs each piece of armor to contain multiple layers of textures. Which wow doesn’t have.
So they would need an overhaul of the entire engine for it to work and even then it wouldn’t work retroactively.
I don’t think we’ll ever see it in wow, just doesn’t seem to be set up for it.
Would remove the need to run multiple difficulties of raids etc, sets would be so much easier to complete and we’ get to pick out own colours. My futute would be very pink or very black
But with what you write , you mostly care.
Example you are an Lfr Player…and see the same set you have with another mythic raider player .Your set is appalling and you dislike it but the other is amazing and with some extra effect .
That guy spend time in order to get that piece .That’s called Effort.
The game at least until now give rewards to skilled player-teams and the reward is Mount-Set skins and gear …(You can try and do mythic raid-pvp in order to get those ).
Otherwise wait 2/3 expansion to obtain them
Please don’t twist my words into your narrative.
I really don’t care where you got a piece from, be it a mythic drop or a world drop with the same looks. All I care about is what it looks like, and whether it’s obtainable through some means for me, or whether I can mimic your look using other pieces.
Having an amazing looking mog is a flex for me.
You and 10 other people having killed a boss is not for me.
If we had a dye system a’la GW2, I could die happy.
Nope, they won’t. Something about a player needing to see through the gear what kind of level the opponent is.
Then again they also said they would never go for overly silly armour and such… so maybe? Nah, I can’t see it happen.
Elder Scrolls Online has it. T’was fun but it took a bit of doing activities to get some better colours before one could start.
Don’t think it’ll ever happen but it is something a lot of us really want. It doesn’t even have to be a full dye system, I’d be happy if we could have a system to at least match shades or something so more pieces could fit together.
