Will the level 58 boost work on existing characters? If so, are there any additional benefits for a partially levelled characters such as professions being boosted to a certain level?
I’ve got a level 40 Paladin that I don’t really want to level at the current pace of Classic, because quite frankly it’s boring, but I want to play and raid TBC with the people I play Shadowlands with and just wondered how my boost will actually work on that character.
No, I want to boost my Paladin because I always play a Paladin. It’s more a case of wanting to know if my professions will get boosted a bit as well. Previous versions of the level boost in retail had this, prior to the level squish, if you boosted a character that was partially levelled.
Ah got ya. You mean the boost from lvl 60 to 90 where you the proffesion lvled. No thats not a thing with this boost.
But when the prepatch hits, its 20% less xp needed for 20-60. Thats not what you looked for but its something ^^
I cannot exactly tell you how the boost handles existing professions, but from the info we have, we know it doesn’t grant professions to new characters, so why would it for existing ones. I would expect them to remain unchanged.
The answer to your question is no. The boost have nothing to do with existing characters. You use the boost, select race, class, gender and name. Hit the button and boom, you have a new level 58 character.
The person I was responding towards stated that he could only boost “new characters basically”
I was responding that you can boost with existing characters
It would be awesome if someone from blizz could help with some input here I have the same question, have a lvl 35 with profession pretty high with my preferred name. I will be using the boost as the prepatch and the time until release is to short for me to level.
Will you be able to boost an existing char? And if so, will all the existing progress remain?
was answered many times …
The boost will likely work like in retail.
So you have the choice if you want to boost existing or new.
Professions are not touched by the boost.
Starting on May 18, after the weekly scheduled realm maintenance, everyone who wants to prepare early to join the adventure when Outland opens on June 1 will have the option to purchase the Dark Portal Pass, allowing them to boost one character of their choosing on a Burning Crusade Classic realm to level 58 (limit one per World of Warcraft account; not usable on blood elf or draenei characters). The boosted character will receive:
