Currently clearing out old raids and I wonder…classic raids give a lot less gold than panda raids…after the level 60 squish will the panda raids give as much gold as the classic raids being level 50?
Will farming old raids still be a good way to make gold?
Raids will be scaled to different levels. Classic raids will still be lower level than panda raids, which in turn will be lower level than BfA raids. As such, older raids will usually yield less gold than newer ones.
Whether it will be worth farming any of them for raw gold remains to be seen.
Hope so. I hate questing and i’m not farming 10k rep caches.
The biggest gold nerf ever happened in MOP prepatch
I was soloing TK in Cata for Ashes of Al’Ar and bosses dropped 250g each, then the prepatch happened and they started to drop… 10 gold. Yep, the gold has been cut by 25 because this was 25 player raid.
Before MOP one of the best gold farms was BWL. MC was also decent. After the nerf they dropped laughable amounts, like 2-5g each boss. And they still drop that little, it’s stupid.
Right now we are in slightly different spot, as majority of your gold comes from vendoring the drops, rather than the looted money itself. Go on alpha and look up vendor values for items. Should give you some idea what is coming.
They want to keep vendor values high because that produces high repair bills. BFA has the highest vendoring value ever, weapons vendor for 130+ and you have to pay 600g repair bills or transmog bills.
If they nuke the vendoring value into the ground then repair bills go down as well, which is not something they want (as this is the most consistent way to drain player gold out of the economy)
BFA raids themselves will be rather meh gold farms because of azerite gear that has no vendor value at all. Because of lol scrapper, where you can scrap it for materials that sell for 3 gold xD
the worst gold inflation was WOD garrison
i was making 70k raw a week from missions alone
Legion had missions that dropped 3k gold a pop, i believe you could print even more money with a stable of characters.
This was going on for years and players were able to print out absolutely massive amounts of raw gold. If someone played for 2 years of wod at 50k a week (average) he contributed like 5 millions over that course. Multiply this by number of players on the server, you got so much gold that it’s hard to contain it.
Yes true, sadly wod is when I first started lvling all my alts so I missed out on a lot of gold x.x…and then again during Legion and Bfa because I took long breaks when herbs were still selling for a lot…
