We all heard the rumors and I even encoutered friends who got banned for the new automated gold trading ban.
I rerolled to same server in beginning of phase 2 but I want my real game name on a newly created account. So Im back at my 1st account where the characters is horde. I deleted them and created paladin. So the hazzle is, will I get banned if i trade gold from my #2 account to my #1 account? Both accounts is joined to the same battle.net ID / Mail or should I wait? I dont want to lose all my gold + getting lockedout for 14 days due to some AI auto ban for litterly every gold trade
If they’re on the same BNET the wow accounts will generally not be banned for sending gold to each other unless you’re trading illegally obtained gold.
Oh okay thanks. Tbh im a little scared for sending them anyway. The gold is purely made by mining for a week, so there shouldnt be any trouble at all. Its just all the rumors and posts and friends getting banned left and right
Okay thanks for the input. Its really appreciated. Thats exactly what I want to get confirmed. Like I wont even risk it. I’ll just try to grind some gold on my lvl 20 paladin xD
This is already debunked by Aggrend btw.

I think it’s safe to say at this point that this fear is something of a boogeyman, likely created by those who claim to have been banned unfairly but left out a key detail in their anecdote, or is fabricated by those who don’t like this particular policy change and want to rally support against it by creating fear from nothing (not like anything like this has ever happened on the internet…)
Is it possible to catch an incorrect ban? Maybe. Anything is possible, but in the vast majority of cases we’ve reviewed of folks who claim “to have only traded gold with a friend” or “We had a rare item drop and split the profits” or something similar, the ban has been justified and something else illicit actually occurred. The majority is so far in the favor of legitimate bans, that any false positives are not numerous enough for statistical significance.
There reality is if you play the game, interact with the trading and AH systems in place, don’t accept large sums of gold from total strangers (i.e. if you see 1k gold pop up in your mailbox from someone you don’t know, you should return it), and don’t buy gold or buy/sell items in a dungeon/raid, you will likely be fine. We can’t give you exact specifics and guidelines for every edge case interaction between players.
Re: Cross-game trading specifically, I’ll reiterate that we do not in any way support cross-game trading. Is it against the rules? That answer is nuanced but if you arrange a trade with a stranger across games and that stranger has been involved in gold selling (a huge number are) then you could get a suspension for that as it looks like you bought that gold. If its a good friend you know and trust, that is safer and that’s the scenario we don’t want to outright forbid, but these types of transactions are not supported by us for a reason. They are another great way to obfuscate bad behavior and are more often than not used that way. You are ultimately responsible to ensure you know and trust the people you are dealing with. If you can’t verify that or be sure of it, it’s safer not to do it.
This was a lot of words to say that the actions we are taking are effective. Some folks have gotten away with buying gold in the past. Now fewer are getting away with it and its being felt. We will never win the war on RMT, at least not fully, but the things we can do is focus on ways to make it less profitable and more painful for bad actors to conduct this business. Going after buyers and cracking down on exploits in these murky grey areas is one of the things are we are doing. My advice is don’t let misinformation distract you. The fact that there is this much noise around this means that the paradigm has changed and for the most part, that is a good thing.

Okay, are you up an experiment? I can make a youtube video, make documentation of everything and then post it on youtube and lets give it 14 days and see if im banned?
I dont believe his x post at all. Hes just trying to justify the false positive bans they hand out

This youtube video honestly doesn’t do anything, there have been players before who did the same thing and claimed they got banned only to turn out prior the recording of said video had bought or received illegal gold through another means.
Its not that I don’t believe that you did gain it through a legit way, I’m just saying: If anything illegal happened they will flag the entire transaction. Feel free to farm the gold otherwise.
You should, in theory, be fine. I’ve given friends a decent chunk of gold/traded them good items and I haven’t gotten into any trouble.

Im sorry, but that reply is just the same chit chat you posted before. That post doesnt clarify other than “anything” is possible. So Me getting banned is just as easily as any other than is a realm RMT and me that is just a regular player that got the gold in my own way. So If i cant use any documentation to prove otherwise, please stop sharing that xpost because it doesnt prove anything
Why you want to put the video on youtube ? If you are that scared then make video document or photo and keep it to yourself and if something goes wrong . Send it to support and gm .making video on youtube and in public will just give somebody an excuse to just report you for nothing
Ahh thats true. I never thought of that. Well, I just send myself 50 gold. Lets see if anything happens
