Will RDF come with ICC as it originally did?

Well it would be lovely.
When Blizz introduced HC+, it’s almost impossible to find HC normal groups via group finder. Half of the people does not use any description when listing, so setting a group is a real mess. I am trying to help to my GF to gear up her fresh paladin and we spend like 99% time just by setting a group. WoW its so much fun (sarcasm). Playing on Nethergarde keep horde, feels pretty dead now. Gearing up new characters without being guild leech is harder then ever.

If they didn’t think things through this would be the case yes.
There is a simple solution staring us in the face to not make this happen.
You sign up the RDF for HC OR HC+ and remove the clickable device alltogether. As you’re going into the dungeon it will already be HC or HC+ and presto.

The “code” is in Wrath. It was even Classic as they used the 7.3.5 Retail Client for the backport of Classic. For them it’s just a switch away.
Let’s be real, they are just not putting it in for the #nochanges purists. Once its there, the purists leave.

And yet the same purists somehow don’t bat an eye as HC+, Likely merging the lockdowns in ToC between Normal and Hardmodes and other stuff keep showing up. But hey no RDF it’s all pure and classic like.

Absolutely. I don’t defend them. I think the purists are cringe af

And neither on BGs. As those are queued as dungeons, in literally the same manner. No need to walk to the entrance yourself and manually invite others yourself.

If I’m not mistaken, it was barely any less inconvenient in TBC or even Classic - as you’d walk up to the BG master npc in a major city, and talk to them to be put in a queue. Then you’d port in on a pop. Interestingly, the purists don’t see a problem with this… :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Back on hc+, it’s like Retail’s M+. The difference on how gearing works is that you can queue for hc’s on retail (or Timewalking) or do WQs, or even get profession gear for cheap to aid with gearing. For Wrath, only part of this exists.

With HC+ on, there are almost no HC groups forming. As there are no WQs to do for an easy Naxx10 epic, or even a dungeon blue (even 187), the only choice to get the necessary gear is through the AH and professions. But I guess that even on a bigger server, neither the ulduar boe’s nor crafted items (or even the orbs) are cheap. Leaving you with the 200 epics as Frozen Orbs are much more common and the recipes are trained.

Even with this gear, there’s a good chance you’ll be declined from HC+ as a dps, as people prefer the strongest available players and you’d still hit a bump at 3.7k.

Compare this to private servers. If I was leveling my toons there from 70, I’d already have 5 of my toons at 80, even more with a 50% xp buff (and they generally offer 2x rates!). Then at max, I press 2 buttons on any class to get into a dungeon, get to do it for a lot more badges, and better ones, than in Wrath Classic, in any amount of time, and be geared enough to be accepted into a pug raid. And the dungeons would be easy (about which, no one would complain, as these are meant to be there for gearing up), with the raids still posing a difficulty as you go further. Something for everyone.

Yet it was omitted for a “social aspect”. No, you could chat in an RDF, the game doesn’t forbid it. It’s on the player that they don’t want to chat. Someone’s shy, another chats on disc, reads forums, watches YT, whatever. Those have nothing to do with RDF - pugs are pugs, you probably won’t see them again. Or even if you do you won’t much care as you’re in the dungeon for emblems and gear, not to chat all day long.

Whereas you see those guild members or friends you roll with, again, and you have topics to talk about. They are the prime sources of socialisation in WoW.

Barrens Chat is different as the place spanned 15 levels and giant travel distances along with natural downtime due to how classes worked. And people would chat there to kill time moving between objectives. The keyword is downtime. Which the newer WoW doesn’t really have. Not RDF…

Anyways, that’s all folks! Sorry for the wall of text.

Edit: the subscription model could also cause people to become rushy, and so focus more on their goals in their limited time. That’s another reason to not be so chatty - they may not be able to afford time for that, or have enough work/friends as is. I didn’t see this so much on private servers as they were free and content was fixed.
