I’m trying to hold off on upgrading my pc as I’m getting married next year and need the funds.
My question is will this system still be fine to run wow at max settings? ( Or near enough)

I’m only running at 1080p untill I can get a new monitor, but I’m not too fussed about that.

Well, for 60hz the 980ti should be good enough.
But a modern 1440P display should have at least 120hz or 144hz with gsync/freesync.
Then your GPU will struggle on higher settings, but still, better than 60hz anytime.
Don’t buy a 60hz display for gaming anymore 
60 fps is fine for wow
But 144hz is better… it always will be. What is your point?
Well , just swap the 980ti for 1050ti “middle range” or 1660 “high range” your i7 will do great job even in few years to come. O yeah and SSD if you are on Sata.
That is some really bad advice.
A 980ti is almost 50% faster than a 1050ti.
Even a 1660 Sper is only about 15-20% faster.
He would need at least a 2070 to see an actual big improvement.
better doesn mean it needed…
60 fps isn’t “needed”, either. neither is high graphics. a decently sized monitor with a reasonable resolution isn’t needed. good headphones aren’t needed, neither is a good keyboard or mouse.
you very quickly leave the “necessary to play the game” area and enter the “makes the gaming experience more enjoyable” area. 144hz makes it considerably more enjoyable.
