We were able to buy lv70 brutal gear while leveling in the prepatch. Will we also be able to buy lv80 savage gear while leveing to 80? Currently the vendor says I can’t purchase the items until I reach lv80, but IDK if that’s only because it’s prepatch and it’s a temporary solution so we don’t buy them all.
But … you can’t buy level 70 gear before you hit level 70, up to and including brutal gear.
So I doubt that’ll change in WotLK.
You can absolutely buy it, you just can’t equip it. But you can have it in your bag and you can spend your honor on it, so you don’t overcap. I had 30k+ honor’s worth of brutal gear in my bag before I hit 70 on a fresh server.
I dont know about that, you couldnt do that before the prepatch atleast, so I guess we wont be able to buy lvl 80 gear during wrath before we hit 80.
sounds like brutal gear is bugged if you can buy it below 70. it’s not normal to be able to buy gear that requires a level higher than you are

You literally get an error message saying you need to be 70.
Unless there’s some trick to this, or some vendor that sells it to lower than level 70 outside of the champions hall in Stormwind, it’s simply not true.

My guildies tried buying lvl80 PVP gear during the pre-patch; they couldn’t.
I bought my stuff from the vendor in shattrath, I’m not sure if that matters. I’m already lv70 and don’t have an alt yet, especially not one with enough honor to make sure, but I definitely bought my 2h weapon way before I hit lv cap.
I’ll try it in Shatt on my level 68 then, I have some doubts though.

LMK if it actually lets you. Maybe it’s just a bug with the vendor, or with certain items and I happened to click on one such. Or maybe I’m just senile at this point. If it does let you buy stuff, then my question is still open.
They removed the ability to buy gear early in Mists I think and when they rebuilt Classic they kept that requirement in. In original Wotlk I remember hitting 60 on a toon and equipping half a set of GM gear while in a 50-59 WSG.
Now no PvP is purchasable before you get to the level for it.
Tried both Shatt and Nagrand vendors (as well as Champions Hall in Stormwind), attempting to buy both vengeful and brutal spellblade (my level 68 happens to be a lock so I’d rather have something to show for my honor) and everywhere I get the “error” that I need to be level 70.
Gonna try Netherstorm too, but I don’t see it happening.
At this point I guess it could be a particular item that was bugged, but I don’t feel like trying to buy everything 
edit: Netherstorm bloke is Arena Points only so not possible there either.
So either it’s a specific item or you’re remembering wrong.
Yeah, it made levelling in BGs super fun too cause you’d have a full set of gear waiting for you when you got to level X, rather than wasting honor. I can sorta see the point on relatively new launches like WotLK, cause people would have the full gear ready to zerg other people but honestly, it’s such a minor thing that I don’t really care that much if someone went through and grinded everything in prepatch.
