We got the new models in 2014 with wod. Do you think its time to upgrade the character models?
I prefer the old models best, they have a more austere and serious look and an almost soulless eye stare (in a good and interesting way). The new models are so quirky, bouncy and cartoony. And dont quite feel like warcraft, like the old vintage looking character models do.
What would you like to see?

Updated Default Bear Models for Druids
The worgen one looks like the eyes are just glued on, but then again this can be fixed with artifact weapon bear, but still would love to see the dudu forms update

I hope so, undead still look like theyâre made of rubber.

Pandaren need updating the most, they were way ahead during MoP but now it feels like their models just a mess, theyâve had numerous bugs over the years, back in Legion they stopped breathing if you sat down and theyâve had the neckline bug with their model for the past 2-3 expansions and Blizzard have still not fixed it.

I miss the original Tauren model.
I think thatâs the only model they redid that actually looks worse, if they just kept the way they stand and idle the same as the original Iâd have been happy, but it was enough to make me permanently reroll.

I think the models are fine, itâs the animations that are in a dire need of a complete overhaul.

I just want the original models back. I want to play the characters I chose.

Highly doubt it. Probably just add more customisation every now and again.

I imagine theyâre working on the trans customizations!
Female characters with beards, male characters with le boobies!
Give it time, you know itâs coming >_<

Agree with this.
The old undead models stiffness was so fitting and The eyes felt like stared into your soul.
i agree with you OP , current model have really low res compare to new armor means anything that isnât full armor doesnât looks good at all
we need new fresh high res texture made from ground up
I donât know, I feel theyâre pretty good as they are honestly. Maybe something subtle but not that big like in WOD, they suit the current style. I would only say Night Elves and night elves derived models need to be finished, or something like that, especially male models that look kind of goofy and stiff.

While Iâd welcome it, I think itâs more likely that theyâll release new customization options that are just superior in quality. Higher pixel count hairstyles, accessories and the like.
Iâd like to think that many MMO game studios have features halfway developed but tucked away for rainy days when the player count dips - like the trading post weâre due in a few weeks. I imagine Blizzard might consider selling hairstyles, skintones and perhaps even allied races in the cash shop if they decide to go subscription free in WoWâs twilight years - and this kind of microtransaction would fit the bill.
But thatâs just speculation on my part.
I like the new Tauren models for the most part, but the running animation still looks weird to me. Itâs as if heâs about to trip all the time.

A bigger remake would be nice, with not just a new model but being able to have different shapes as well, skinny, fat, muscle tone and being able to change height to some extent.
Also different animations, how the character stands when idle, how they sit and so on. Having everyone sit the same way for a race is silly. Since it just looks bad in certain situations.
And then add weapons placement options as well. Let us pick if they should stay on the sides or back. Or stay on the arm at all times (shields for example).

WTB hairstyles that arenât parasitic mullets.
As close to 0% without actually being 0. The way WoW handle gear right now would make updating models an astronomical task.
Rant ahead.
Back when they updated the character models back in WoD, all gear except for the head, shoulders, and (some) belt slots were just a texture. Yes, even stuff like boots and robes was just a texture. The boots, gauntlets and robes are a part of the character model that are just hidden when not in use.
New gear from Legion onwards are completely seperate files from the character models, and youâd think that would make things easier. But Blizzard took the path of handfitting each piece of armor to every race and gender. Meaning that there are approximately 40 different versions of every single piece of gear with 3D geometry in the entire game. Each and everyone of which would have to be refitted and rerigged to any new character models.
Blizzard can barely keep up as it is. For example, the hip attachments of Nightborneâs heritage armor was broken for like all of Shadowlands.
It would take them literally several years to redo all the armor if they were to update the character models again.
This reason is why i find it so frustrating that Blizzard repeated the same mistake that lead to âadvanced character customizationâ not being possible in WoW, when they created the new character models in WoD. They should have taken the time to add things like keyshapes and bone scaling. But now itâs too late. This is the reason why fat humans are treated as a seperate race from regular humans, rather than just being a customization option.
Yes, I really would love new models for all races. Especially female Draenei could need some fixes for their robes-rigg, preventing clipping of legs through the robes while running.
Oh and give us more Humanoid faces. When you look from the side, our noses basically are 4 polygonsâŚ
I just made a thread about Pandaren customization!
We are now the oldest model in game and they have come along way in customization options since MoP so there is plenty they could do.
The faces are just identical copies and yet you can see what they can achieve with a âfurryâ race if they try after seeing Drakthyr options.
Id like to see a few tail options, ears, cheeks, muzzles to alter the shape of the face. Also scars and jewellery too.
