Will you be playing WoW in 2044?

Happy birthday wow! Thanks for the past 20 yrs. Made me seriously think tho, will I be playing WoW 20 yrs from now? in 2044? If someone had asked me that question about 2024 in 2004 i would have laughed in their face. MMO’s wont last that long!

I’m so glad I am still here and I intend to be here in 2044 when i am 67 enjoying patch 23.0! (unless they promise to keep up thier faster release patch cadence which means it will be rougly patch 25?)

Whos joining me?

Having just watched both seasons of Pantheon, I will say “yes” only if upload technology has been invented and perfected

Imagine how shocked the dev’s will be if AI’s chose Azeroth as their home world.

Yeah. I’ll be playing WoW until I die or until it does.

I think it will heavily depend on whether I have children or not.
I can only play around 7-8hours a week (except first month of every xpac where I play 4hours a day :eyes:), and I don’t think I’ll have those hours available if I ever have kids.

I think so. I play retail and classic. My wish of a perpetual server that goes through the first 3 iterations (vanilla-tbc-wrath) seems to be made a reality. This in combination with retail being good again makes me think wow is here to stay, and so am I.

I would play wow even if I was immortal forever lol

I found it crazy when John Hight talked about the next 30 years of Warcraft at Blizzcon, and then Metzen followed it up with the next 20 years of adventure. And in interviews since the developers have also talked about the next many many years ahead for WoW and Warcraft. It almost seems overly optimistic.
I struggle to imagine what so many more years of…this…can entail. 5 years? Sure. 10 years? Yeah alright. 15? Eh, not so sure anymore…

But regardless, it’s not a journey I intend to embark on.

I’ve played for more than 20 years now and I intend to stop at the end of the The World Soul Saga and my 25th year of WoW. I think that will be a fitting, and somewhat poetic moment to choose, if any is to be chosen.

I’ve come to the realization that I don’t want WoW to be a forever game, and I don’t want Warcraft to be a constant presence, and I don’t want to find myself quitting WoW randomly out of boredom, or instantly out of anger. I want to end on a note of closure and a sense of fulfillment with the game and the franchise. And I’m wagering that the end of The World Soul Saga will come with the story conclusion that I’ve pined for since I started playing WoW.

So it ends then, if all goes according to plan. But we’ll see.

I’ll be dead by then.

Probably yes with big breaks inbetween, but I’m a pessimist, I think I’m dead by then or skynet will nuke us into oblivion, if we haven’t done that ourself.

Don’t worry, the Banshee Queen - Sylvanas will rez you and you will play on her side as undead forsaken!

But we can notice that you prefer to stay alive, that’s why you still play on Alliance side.

I would be 64 and if the servers are still up, I’ll be playing.

edit: i said something which was funny to me, but might be tos so here is the edit

What’s next year? Did I miss a memo on an apocalypse or something?

Servers go down for maintenance and only a few of us sims remain after the reboot.

There wont be wow in year 2044 but for the sake of it I could say that god I hope not, I really hope there comes some other mmo by then, this game is on life support :joy:

I’d probably be in a grave by then.

Honestly doubt Blizzard would be around then tbh.

If WoW is still around in 2044 I will probably still be playing, although I will be 73 so who knows
