Indeed, it is.
Truth be told, I am starving to join a campaign right now, roll20 or otherwise.
Meanwhile, I am making all manner of wacky characters for fun.
Can’t really help re a campaign, but if you have a google for the Flintlocks and Fireballs podcast (and decide that you like it), they have a solid discord community that sometimes runs oneshots.
Have those days even existed?

Definitely yes… How old are you? Between 1990 until around 2013 it was definitely more carefree in the gaming sphere (or maybe in general).

I remember some rules were enforced and managed better, but people were just as crazy at that time

It has always been here, the difference if how much we use the internet to express outselves compared to that time - now, this is the primary place to speak up for both parties.
Before that we used newspapers and magazines to do those things… And some privately made internet pages
I find the forums very dark and depressing atm, I am not saying that people should not be allowed to voice their opinions on subject matters they feel strongly about, of course they have the right to do this.
But by the same rule, others have the right to say they want to see lighter fun threads as well for balance
