Was away for a bit and just came back. Catching up with story and doing the blue dragon flight. Fetch a dragon stuff and I really like the snooty dragon’s attitude to mortals. It makes sense. Largely, I the champion, have loot goblined my way from one crisis to the next. Largely meddling in powers, I should not be and don’t understand for my own best interests. Chiefly my own survival. As mortals we have largely created just as many problems as we solved, if not more.
Largely we have been incredibly lucky. Calling us champion just feels so out of place.
There are points where we do good things but largely in our own interest. For the most part our approach to any dungeon or temple we come across has been. Well, they didn’t nail it to the ground. Kinda their own fault really and even when they do set traps, we are like… mmm. Yoink.
Though I like these aspects of the story telling because they make the characters flawed. It makes sense that any dragon flight, especially the blue would be exhausted by the sheer mention of mortal involvement.
Champion bores me. I prefered Commander, it carried a bit more weight. You can be Commander of anything. Just don’t return me to “outlander” …or anything lander.
I wish they would eliminate these titles, which are supposed to be placeholders for our names. You don’t need to add a champion for me to know that you are talking to me. Blizzard backed themselves into a corner with this in Shadowlands when they called you maw walker and they had to call you the true maw walker because everyone else was also a maw walker.
That would be even worse. If you want AI to say people’s names, we would need a rework of the naming database. No one wants to hear their name when it’s a workaround because someone else took it. You could run into an issue where the AI can’t correctly pronounce it.
Why put in all the work for a gimmick that could quickly go wrong or require a massive overhaul? Also, I play a lot of modern games. No one uses AI to say your name. The tech only came to the market 18 months ago. I’m not saying Forza doesn’t do it but stating that other games are capable is a lie. They might not even have access to the technology, training models etc to even pull it off.
